Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

That's the worst. "I had to put up with all that unfairness and I turned out all right!" If you want others to suffer because you suffered, you absolutely did not turn out all right.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Right. It's a daily struggle. The worst is having to obey all the stupid rules that keep things unfair. Don’t make stupid, unfair rules and I wouldn’t have a hard time following them.

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

That has got to be the weakest sauce I've seen surrounding any of this. "Things change"? You get how that doesn't make any of this any better in any way, right? Something convinced Goodman to go back on his promise to never work with a Holocaust-denying bigot. So something was convincing...

    AD&D/OSRIC: How did initiative work?

AD&D initiative according to the PHB was simple 1d6 side-based initiative. It only became a nightmare if you tried to follow every subsequent book and magazine article that fiddled with the system and added mountains of caveats. Like, for example, the ridiculous ADDICT PDF already posted. It's...

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

I do. At the very least Bledsaw's Holocaust denial and bigotry weren't enough to stop Goodman. That in an of itself makes Goodman a bad person. What makes it worse and cements the whole thing is that at some point Goodman lied his ass off about all of it. Depending on the timeline of events...

Class-specific lore, yes. D&D in general, no. As far back as AD&D you have the Hammer of Thunderbolts which was very much a mjolnir knockoff.

Yeah, that's fair. It's not an extra stat block in the 5E sense so it doesn't get to do anything "extra" outside the bounds of the PC-failure or Fear-spend economy. New game and new modes of thinking and all that. I still haven't gotten it to the table yet. Hopefully will soon. Absolutely. I'm...

Right. I more mean things like terrain effects having an impact on the fight. If the fight is balanced with certain assumptions (so much incoming damage, so much outgoing damage, etc), then if you add in something that will cause more damage or stress, etc, you're throwing off that balance. So...

If y'all want to fight about clerics and crusaders, please take it elsewhere. It's barely even tangentially related here.

Yeah. Traps are effectively Skulk adversaries. You could pretty easily stat one up and add it to a fight. I'm honestly surprised they didn't do that for traps and terrain like 4E considering how much else is drawn from 4E. Part of the advice is to provide dynamic, moving fights. But they...

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

There are already a dozen digital tools made by fans and posted across the net, including on the Daggerheart reddit. I've seen Spencer Starke posting there, so I know Critical Role and Darrington Press are aware of it. I guess we'll see how much they want to go after their own fans.

TSR Why would anyone want to play 1e?

Why do people play "worse" games when "better" games are right there? It's a question for the ages. The prevailing answer seems to be "because they like it." See any discussion of why people play 5E instead of any other game for plenty of examples. At a guess, most gamers will house rule by...

Looking more at environments. I think you could raid one of the many journey-travel systems for ideas and come up with a few other generic environments and simply string 2-4 of them together to have a passable travel system in Daggerheart. I was also thinking about dungeons using environments...

Well, sort of. But not really. It's more like one's a war cleric and the other is a vengeance paladin. The concepts are so close together as to be almost indistinguishable. Paladins are 75% combat, 25% magic. Clerics are 75% magic, 25% combat. Yes, I know those numbers aren't precise. The seraph...

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

Up until this news broke I would have put DCC RPG and anything else by Goodman in the clearly safe OSR category. Now, all bets are off. I doubt either of the big two actual play producers would touch anything remotely related to the OSR at this point, no matter how solid gold their reputation.
