D&D General Let's make the upper planes playable!

It does make sense to make the planes that aren't defined the dumping grounds of the gods. I am still more curious to see how to define planes to make them playable on their own merits. Honestly, I may repackage my own outsider species for my purposes. The card species and the idea of...

D&D General Let's make the upper planes playable!

stewing on Bytopia, I like the idea of my anthropomorphic playing card outsiders as the basis. However, I need some feedback on proceeding before I start writing up the monster manual entries. Firstly, a name. Here are some potential names: Cardinalians A name that emphasizes their...

    Paragons of neutral good

Pippi Longstocking (from the children's series by Astrid Lindgren) is independent and quirky. She helps her friends and the less fortunate in her own way.

D&D General Let's make the upper planes playable!

I rewrote Elysium when it struck me that it could be an interesting take on neutral good. Namely Superheroics. This is a plane that sees everything through 4 colored comic lens. Here goes nothing. Elysium: Plane of Heroic Virtue Theme: The eternal struggle for goodness, where every...

D&D General Let's make the upper planes playable!

This one needed less work (which seems like a trend for the chaotic realms). I decided to mix some classic tales into the mix. Beastlands: The Circle of Sovereignty The Beastlands are ruled by an eternal concept known as the Circle of Sovereignty, symbolized by the great Lion King of Beasts...

    D&D General Greyhawk and Polearms

Because my mind won't shut off. The Polearm of the Seven Spears Weapon (glaive, halberd, or pike), artifact (requires attunement) The Polearm of the Seven Spears is a legendary weapon forged from seven distinct pieces scattered across Greyhawk. Each piece holds immense power and historical...

    D&D General Greyhawk and Polearms

Stewing some items: Lance of the High King Weapon (lance), artifact (requires attunement by a lawful-aligned creature) This ornately decorated lance symbolizes the authority and strength of the High King of Aerdy. Unerring Strikes: When you attack a chaotic creature with this lance, your...

D&D General Let's make the upper planes playable!

okay then Another inspiration. Arcadia: A Land of Perfect Order Arcadia, where "order over good" reigns supreme, is a plane that embodies the struggle of maintaining the greater good under the shadow of rigid, inflexible law. While its systems and rules are created with benevolence, the...

you are not wrong. angels have a bad habit of being everywhere and somewhat generic. maybe make them more like the Nephilim - mechanical /giant hybrids -that have aspects of both?

oddly enough this is exactly what I want alignments according to adventuring options that are gameable. definitely leaning towards moving the more "biblically accurate angels" over to arcadia as they would be half way between angels and modrons.

D&D General Let's make the upper planes playable!

yeah but us mere mortals need a shorthand exceptions are great, but we need something that allows us to hang an adventure on it quickly. just the blood war alone gives something really awesome for the lower planes, but there really is no way to do that on the upper planes equivalent
