Some thoughts. I didn't really start the thread with anything specific in mind, but off the top of my head... Malazan Book of the Fallen. I don't know if it would translate all that well, without a clear central cast of characters (or rather, several changing ones). But the ideas and world are...

You're approached by a Hollywood exec...

OK, y'all are both edgy and hate Hollywood. Hey, I mostly agree. But...why not engage with the underlying premise? What story or comic or game (etc) would you like to see on the screen, whether big and/or small?

You're approached by a Hollywood exec...

That isn't really the point of the thread, though - sorry if that wasn't clear. What I'm asking is what you would want to see developed (and how), not what you think would make a big splash.

    Amazon takes over Bond franchise

Well, it is an odd thing, isn't it? I completely disagree - especially about the showrunners getting Tolkien and his themes. But back to Bond...

    Amazon takes over Bond franchise

Ha. Seriously though, this might be an odd thought to some, but some folks follow people on social media they don't like or don't agree with, just to hear what they have to say. I follow people on twitter that I disagree with politically, because I like to consider a wide range of views - and...

    Amazon takes over Bond franchise

He did an excellent job playing a CIA dude in one of the Mission Impossible films. People loved him in the Witcher. Etc. Yep - agree on all accounts. Cavill looks younger at 41 than Connery did at 32 in his first Bond role.

...and they say, "We follow you online and love your opinions on geek stuff. We will pour tons of money into a franchise of your choice, with the caveat that it has to be something that has either never been brought to screen, or only very briefly and unsuccessfully. What do you want us to do?"...

    Amazon takes over Bond franchise

Not the thread for it, but we'll have to agree to disagree. It absolutely baffles me that anyone who read and loved LotR (let alone the Silmarillion) would not see Rings of Power as a travesty, but as the saying goes, de gustibus non est disputandum.

    Amazon takes over Bond franchise

I believe someone mentioned his tweet up-thread. If Bezos was going on fan response, he's already on the phone with Henry Cavill. People say he's too old, but he's only 41 - just three years older than Craig was when Casino Royale came out. Of course Any new Bond film (or show) is at least two...

    General star wars talk/discussion/complaining

As I said in another thread (or maybe early in this one - I can't remember), I see pretty much everything after the original trilogy as a diminishing of Star Wars. There were ups and downs, but nothing made Star Wars better - and the sum total was a diminishing effect that has really marred the...

    Costanza. George Costanza.

    Amazon takes over Bond franchise

As for the Amazon news, my wishful thinking is maybe this means Bezos will give up on ransacking Middle-earth and try again with a new "sacred" franchise. Of course if I hear Bond utter, "I have a tempest in me," I'm out.

    Amazon takes over Bond franchise

When I watched Fallout, I remember thinking, "Wow, I think they just optimized the potential of an action movie." It was really quite good - as were the few before, but Fallout took it to another level.

Who’s your vote for the next James Bond?

I didn't know about it, but sounds good to me.

D&D (2024) Do We Really Need Levels 11-20?

I'm guessing the 97% thing is less "97% of players only like 1-10" and more "97% of campaigns only last long enough to get to 10th level or lower."

D&D (2024) Do We Really Need Levels 11-20?

Isn't 16-20 technically "epic tier?" Anyhow, it is all a matter of degree. I've always like the idea of a full-spectrum, from "farmboy" to cosmic entity...at least as potential options. For 2014 D&D, I remember them describing the different tiers as heroes of "X," with X being regions or places...

D&D (2024) Do We Really Need Levels 11-20?

Isn't that what they mostly do? (Focus on lower-to-mid levels). Not sure what you're suggesting, though. I like 11-20 as an option for those that want to play higher levels. If anything, I'd like to see a bit more for 21+, and/or some kind of "path to demigodhood."

D&D (2024) Why are you still playing D&D?

If I were to dust off the old dice, Dragonbane might be the game I played (or maybe Shadowdark).

D&D (2024) Why are you still playing D&D?

You know, I thought of that right after I posted it. Hmm...I guess 5/5.5?

D&D (2024) Why are you still playing D&D?

We're now ten plus years into 5th edition and I've heard various whispers of people commenting that it is starting to feel a bit out-dated, perhaps not unlike AD&D in the mid-to-late 90s, after Indie games had innovated in various ways. I could be reading this wrong, of course, or more likely it...
