Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks Talks AI Usage in D&D [UPDATED!]

Seems like they're talking out of both sides of their mouth.

D&D 5E Homebrew (no pun intended) Magical Teas: How to Do It?

I just remembered that I bought this third-party supplement ages ago, so I may try adapting some of those items for the tea effects. https://www.dmsguild.com/product/171344/Recipe-Crafting-for-Consumables I'm still worried about balance, though. To require a skill roll or not to require a skill...

D&D 5E Homebrew (no pun intended) Magical Teas: How to Do It?

TL;DR: I want to give one of my players the opportunity to make a few magical teas with mechanical effects, but I don't want to make the teas or the character too powerful. For context, I am currently running a campaign in the Koryo Hall of Adventures setting (based on Korean folklore), in...

    RPG Evolution: Inspiration from Corfu

Some great suggestions here, thanks! I especially like the petrified ship.

D&D General Golems With Ranged Attacks?

I'd like to see it! I can always use more golems (I have a weakness for them).

D&D General Let He Who Is Without Sin Cast the First Magic Missile: Why Gygax Still Matters to Me

I thought the short Ixalan "Plane Shift" document had some really interesting stuff in it. Maybe if they expanded on that (yes, I know the MtG settings are controversial).

D&D General Let He Who Is Without Sin Cast the First Magic Missile: Why Gygax Still Matters to Me

I'm confused by what you mean here. When you say "That's not what D&D is," are you referring to the fact that most monsters are from European-based folklore? If so, there's no reason you can't add new and different monsters--in fact, that's been expected ever since the early days.

    D&D General Godless Settings

In the Koryo Hall of Adventures setting, the gods are missing or at least have broken off communication after a wizard caused a magical disaster hundreds of years ago. One of the main antagonist organizations, the Sect of Changjo, is dedicated to trying to bring them back through human sacrifice...

D&D General Roleplaying Origins of Early DnD

That's what I don't get, though. How are the "theater kids" ruining D&D for these people? Not enough action, or are they worried that non-optimized characters will drag the party down, or what?

D&D 5E Rise of Tiamat with a mostly not-Good party - looking for hooks

So maybe they're not open about wanting it--then the challenge becomes how to heist away all this treasure (or as much as they can take) after the battle, before the others know what's happening. Could be a fun epilogue to the campaign. It would make them legendary in criminal circles, if that...

D&D General Roleplaying Origins of Early DnD

Can someone please explain why "theater kids" is a pejorative term in some D&D circles and/or why it is assumed that "theater kids" have only recently taken an interest in D&D?

D&D 5E Rise of Tiamat with a mostly not-Good party - looking for hooks

I was just going to suggest this. If they're motivated by material rewards, the hoard that is being assembled at the Well of Dragons would be a score beyond their wildest dreams. Could be part of their negotiations with the various other groups, too: "And remember, we get first choice of the...

D&D (2024) Types of Magic - Arcane, Divine, and Primal?

No reason you can't put magic types (back) into your own campaign, especially if you're playing in a homebrew world.

D&D (2024) Wizards of the Coast Backtracks on D&D Beyond and 2014 Content

That explains why they felt entitled to do it, but not why they assumed their customers would be happy about it.

D&D (2024) Wizards of the Coast Backtracks on D&D Beyond and 2014 Content

So yeah, they were planning on taking away what people already had (on their character sheets). Why on earth would they assume that was a good idea?

D&D (2024) Wizards of the Coast Backtracks on D&D Beyond and 2014 Content

Why would they think people would be happy to lose access to the older stuff, though? That's what I don't get. (I don't use D&D Beyond, but I gather the problem was that they were going to make the 2014 stuff completely disappear?)
