Fighters vs. Spellcasters (a case for fighters.)

I of course cannot claim credit for these posts in this thread, it was the nature of the topic no doubt that was the cause. It has been a very lively and interesting set of posts and discussions.

Fighters vs. Spellcasters (a case for fighters.)

This thread could be a book if all the posts were compiled in some form, some sort of Socratic Dialogue.

Material allowed ingame by a DM

That is difficult to determine, the line between "potent" and "gamebreaking", especially with non-core material.

    Good form and bad PCs

I think if you detailed the build of the PC we'd be able to better help you since we'd know what kind of build it was.

Expected Enhancement Bonus by Level (Weapons & Armor)

I don't think there is an expected enhancement bonus by level, although you might check the NPC WBL guides and equipment in the DMG. The expected enhancement bonus if any depends on your campaign, whether it is low-level or high-level, low-magic or high-magic etc. As well as what you as the DM...

Fighters vs. Spellcasters (a case for fighters.)

I think this thread should be closed. The topic has been officially exhausted. It is beating a dead horse with a stick.

A Petition to have the thread fgtrs vs. spllcstrs closed.

I think that the thread "Fighters vs. Spellcasters (A case for fighters)", which incidentally was started by me has gone on long enough and the point of beating a dead horse with a stick has been reached. As such I would like to make a petition to have the thread closed. I apologize if it might...

I thought this thread topic was of useful and interesting material to digest so I bumped it.

Fighters vs. Spellcasters (a case for fighters.)

Well It seems pretty much like dogma so I will leave it there, although I will say that whether a class is powerful or weak or dominates the game depends on the DM and how powerful he allows the class to become. I don't think there is anything absolute about it, but since such a suggestion is...

Fighters vs. Spellcasters (a case for fighters.)

Power which is the basic question between classes in the D&D world depend on a lot of things. For example, in the D&D world of the middle ages, the basic form/structure of government is monarchy. There is usually one religion to which conformity is expected to be an accepted member of...

Fighters vs. Spellcasters (a case for fighters.)

While all wizards might not be the archetypical wizard who has delusions of power and grandeur, I would they their class as a whole has a tendency towards such a thing. Particularly as they gain in level and therefore believe that they can bend reality to their will and see other people as...

Fighters vs. Spellcasters (a case for fighters.)

Well I still think that considering spellcasters to completely dominate the game ignores certain things. For example the way that the power of classes is calculated is probably faulty in some ways. A theoretical and hypotethical 18th lvl wizard or above might be very powerful but the...

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes and the profession of rogue.

The Sherlock Holmes series of novels written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and published in 1887 and afterwards feature a peculiar and interesting character. Any analysis of the traits, skills and abilities displayed by the character of Sherlock Holmes would lead one to conclude that he belonged...

Material allowed ingame by a DM

Well one thing that has an effect on my allowing something in the game, which is caused by very liberal admission of material is that the material tends to become confusing particularly as it may not be clear whether any particular DM is familiar with the material to be able to create and run...
