In reality, you buy the Phb, mm, and DM guide in 2014, and you buy back the new phb in 2024. that is the minimum link you can handle with Wotc.

I think bastion should not add mechanical features to PCs. We have enough with classes, MC, feats and magic item.

if you need an excel grid to explain or manage Bastion rules it´s a no go for me!

My favorite option is not there. Dont allow spell over 2th level for PCs.

Keep actual ones from 5ed. They do the job.

It’s a nice idea to add flavor to a game. it will be fine, until the the release of the first guide who will rate all « must have bastion » at each level to optimize characters!

I see no more verisimilitude problem than for Charles Xavier. As the party level up the cleric will have a levitating wheel chair. For healing magic the DM could state that for this specific curse it don’t work. that’s it.

So Drow would be a culture rather than a sub race? And then we can apply the same concept to Dwarf culture, orc culture, human culture? Orc eladrin? Dragon born drow?

I fully understand the intent of CR when I relate it with the comments of Perking and Mearls telling that the DM can change monsters hit points during a fight. I simply don’t expect tight challenge (and balance) from the game.

The CR intent is to be used the other way, avoid monster to steamroll the party. Designers don’t care about monsters being slaughtered by too weak party!
