D&D (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

DC 15 all the time, don’t need a new class to do that. Just need a DM and a players that want to see it. I know the answer, what I gonna do if the DM don’t want it!? First be a DM allowing such features and your friends gonna see that it can be cool. Otherwise you can’t still be screw if Wotc...

D&D 5E Rary's Telepathic Bond - can some members talk privately

For 10$ per month of extra fee, you can have private chat! Otherwise it’s a spell of a level high enough to not bug players with annoyance.

D&D 5E World Building: Commerce and gold

Few hint. Don’t try to justified or explained too much political or economic situation. You dont need to approve it In real life either. Economic and political situation are just additional information to create a more make believe setting. usually bad situation encourage the need for heroes and...

    D&D (2024) Chaosmancer Martial Brews

It’s been a while I see used these rules for strength by me or DMs I play with. Describe, wait the DM to make a DC, roll. that’s it. And I never check out to see if Hill giant was able to grap a tree to strike. they just do it. For non physical skills I would suggest to don’t use ability...

D&D (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

I dont ask for an impossible thing. players are bored, needing challenge and enemy, the Dm job is to thrown some at them. PC are looking for information, services, cure, resting, transportation, allies, the DM should work to make those things happen. How, when, and linking that with the rest of...

D&D (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

It would take a rule set per novel or movie! Then to realize that the source is full of contradictions and the only sure rule is that the power and flaw of the characters fit perfectly the narrative.

D&D (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

I remember reading the forewords of the 1ed DMG a few years ago. all I remember is how enthusiasm was Gygax about the game and the experience of fantasy. Where are we now? 5 edition later, where is this fun of playing DnD? The game has evolve or regress? Is the fun buried under a pile of...

D&D (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

Do you trust your DM to provide a good adventure for all players? You seem to struggle with the Invulnerability paradox. Wanting to be challenged while being invulnerable and having all solutions at hand.

D&D (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

You see I put no value on a wizard casting Teleport or a Cleric casting remove curse, the player just apply a feature from his character sheet. I don’t see those action more valuable, clever, or a sign of better play than requiring external help to do the same thing.

D&D (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

Disease and curse, I would say « At last! ». Two years ago I play a character under a curse for a some sessions, it was cool, he didn’t die of that. Turn to stone, can be a good time to play another character for some sessions giving time for the party to find a solution. Travel 1000 miles...

D&D (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

the OP state a Wall of force protecting a sacred key. The first error would be to use Wall of force into the description to players unless a trained arcanist identify the effect. An invisible barrier leave some hope and interpretation both side of the screen. Then there are the mood and time...

D&D (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

I guess I could manage to play any half caster and pretend to be a mundane warrior. Favoring some spell and ability would help describe the fluff of mundane ability. A little help from the DM would be useful. On the same way, I would have no problem to pretend be a psionic powered character...

D&D (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

As I player my job is to describe what I want to do, and react to DM description. If my DM say : »you are dead« I would say stop! Let me first describe the scene of how my head is smashed away by the giant! I wouldn’t not argue about the DC or other technical detail.

D&D (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

We play from 3 to 7th level. Honestly if my DM tell me my monk don’t have his ki power due to an anti magic zone, I would interpret that my savage monk feel his instinct interfere by some wicked magic. As a player I would continue interpreting my monk according to DM description. That is...

D&D (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

Recently I play a monk into an orc and goblins adventure. I present it as an instinctive warrior, kicking, biting, striking vulnerable spot by instinct, I transform the monk into a savage brutal half orc. nobody around the table argue against that. mundane, magical, supernatural are highly...

    D&D (2024) High Tiers = Superheroes

That is DnD, writing those Lore and managing world with immortal or super heroic characters. Each DM will make his solution. If the game was managing and balancing everything it would be a lame.
