D&D General what is a hill dwarf?

From 2e's Complete book of Dwarves: "Hill dwarves live in areas of rolling hills. Their strongholds are primarily located underground, though they frequently have outposts on the surface. A typical hill dwarf stands 4 feet tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He is stocky and muscular. His skin...

D&D 5E New Unearthed Arcana: Wonders of the Multiverse

Kinda surprised the Cartomancer feat isn't open to Bards. Also I would totally open it to Arcane Tricksters for flavor reasons.

    D&D 5E Good Source for 5e NPCs?

I have Outclassed and love it. It's missing some info from recent books, but that's an easy enough work around.

D&D 5E "As a DM I don't pay all that much attention (if any) to the PCs' remaining resources." (a poll)

A bit of a mix. I design my adventures based on party composition, same with loot. However I tend to skew loot towards player preference of type of items. If a player is primarily melee with a focus in rapiers I try to make sure they get good options for rapiers, either as a drop or for...

Level Up (A5E) Optimised A5e rogue (and other) builds

So another option I thought of is taking the Surgical Combatant feat. The Medicine prof and expertise die is nice, but the real draw here is the ability of "You gain proficiency with the Dangerous Strikes maneuver and do not have to spend exertion to activate it." That's a free maneuver that...

Level Up (A5E) Optimised A5e rogue (and other) builds

I wish Rogues got an extra attack so they could do 2 off hand attacks when dual wielding. That said if you're interested in something a bit odd mix Berserker (Queen Bee Archetype) with a Rogue (Burglar). A Queen Bee berserker gets Feel My Sting which states "At 3rd level, while you are...

Level Up (A5E) I wish we had some good substitute monsters!

I think that monetization played some part and WOTC prioritized the creatures that were the most popular

Level Up (A5E) I wish we had some good substitute monsters!

The purple worm is in A5E. It's on page 364 of the Monstrous Menagerie. That said the Khalkoi on page 292 are supposed to be mindflayer replacements. Not exactly the same, but fill the same niche.

Level Up (A5E) Do all of the Planetouched in A5e have horns?

absolutely. So many options to be creative with.

Level Up (A5E) Do all of the Planetouched in A5e have horns?

Well I wouldn't use pathfinder as a baseline. Genasi predate PF and the original Fire Genasi write up from the planewalker's handbook didn't have them with horns, but didn't preclude that as an option.

Level Up (A5E) Do all of the Planetouched in A5e have horns?

There is art that depicts the Jinn with horns and also without them. Since they were believed to be shapeshifting spirits either one fits.

Level Up (A5E) A dismal deficiency of druids and a sorry scarcity of sorcerers

I would love to see a Druid circle all about regaling in the power behind natural disasters.

Level Up (A5E) Do all of the Planetouched in A5e have horns?

I think since none of the heritages have hard and fast "appearance requirements" means the player is pretty open on how they can make their character's appearance look regardless of heritage choice.

Level Up (A5E) Do ability scores only come from Background now?

Seconding everything said already. Also based on what I've seen so far the math has been "smoothed" out a bit on encounters so having a maxed out attribute isn't as mandatory.
