Mearls is doing this (most likely) in his Odyssey game. Though there are still a few more words than needed in the "mechanics" section. He has a description, mechanics, and beyond the rules section for each spell. beyond the rules is stuff like "consider allowing this to light stuff on fire"...

Just downloaded the free starter, and .... I would love to have monsters so easy to run like this. Removes a lot of burden from the GM. Heck, you could play solo this way to a certain degree.....I'm not sure it would always be how I'd want to do it, as I think super smart monsters would pick...

That second sentence is so true. Why not just say Wisdom, rather than more words that make me look on another line? WotC statblocks are just about the worst of all the blocks I look at, across many PDFs (games). I just don't get it at all. Truly bad.

I like light entertainment. Kind of feels disparaging the way you put it. I've never cared for realism in my fantasy games. I get others do.

What would you do for a paladin at 5th level instead of faithful steed? That's not the kind of paladin one of my players really is.....

I liked Solo! Ahsoka just had too much stupid for me. Like, "i'm going to risk the entire galaxy for one person" level of stupid. I don't care if that is "what her character would do". It was too stupid for me.

I'm still annoyed by the amount of stupid in the show ... But I'm sure I'll watch the next season if I live that long....
