D&D General What's your favorite starter sandbox region?

Of course, if you're looking for cities... I'm partial to Zobeck, and the Zobeck Gazeteer and Streets of Zobeck books give plenty of adventure ideas (and several complete adventures). (Think Greyhawk or Lankhmar... only given a clockpunk and vaguely Czech makeover.)

D&D General What's your favorite starter sandbox region?

Pathfinder's Thornkeep is another good one. Manageable village/forest setting with lots of adventure hooks and small dungeons; very Bone Hill-esque.

D&D General What's your favorite starter sandbox region?

Lendore Isles Series (Secret of Bone Hill, The Assassin's Knot, etc.) You've got towns and villages, tribes of restless humanoids, thieves guilds, a castle full of low-level NOPE... between Lendore Isles, Village of Hommlet and Keep on the Borderlands, Lendore is by far my favorite low-level...

    D&D 5E 3 Classic Settings Coming To 5E?

Ah. Well, I stand corrected regarding Birthright!

D&D 5E Kobold Press (and are they the new Paizo?)

Just bought Deep Magic yesterday. I run Midgard - and pretty much only Midgard. Kobold Press can do virtually no wrong in my eyes. (Though there are other designers who I like to borrow from for my own games - Sandy Petersen, Monte Cook and Matt Colville are the peanut butter to Baur's chocolate!)

D&D 5E Kobold Press (and are they the new Paizo?)

It would be a pleasant surprise, but given they haven't had a Kickstarter for it yet, just released the Deep Magic hardback, have the ToB II coming out shortly and just launched the Scarlet Citadel kickstarter, I'm going to say "probably not". But I wouldn't be surprised if they launch a...

    D&D 5E 3 Classic Settings Coming To 5E?

One thing to remember when it comes to classic settings - they've been mentioned in the core books and beyond, and to some extent I think this can give us an idea of where they plan to go and where they don't. For this reason, I can tell you one thing I know for certain: Birthright isn't on the...

    D&D 5E 3 Classic Settings Coming To 5E?

Possible Mystara Hook: The airship setting. While airships have been a thing in Eberron and the Realms, they're just another conveyance. With Bruce Heard's classic Heroes of the Princess Ark boxed set, airships and their crews were put front and center. So just as the "hook" of an Acquisitions...

    D&D 5E 3 Classic Settings Coming To 5E?

Alright, my bets: 1. Dragonlance You've got automatic cash-cow tie-ins with both new novels and classic novel reprints, and content that was born to be reworked for 5E. It's mentioned more in the core books than any setting other than Forgotten Realms or Greyhawk. It hasn't been touched yet -...

Hasbro's Heroquest and Chaosium’s Role in the Board Game’s Return

My son is a little young for this... but in three years I might be picking up a copy for him. The perfect gateway to daddy's games! :)

D&D General Great and not so great setting specific sourebooks/modules

Oooh yeah. Don't really see the Eberron resemblance, but it never really felt like Dragonlance to me... just a great setting in it's own right. Very rugged, "points of light" setting with lots of interesting cultural spins. Recently got this one as well. All kinds of fun stuff for my Midgard...

    Star Trek TNG Re-watch

DS9 is hands down the best series. Even as the "cynical" Trek it's pretty idealistic by today's standards. It starts a little slow, but it doesn't take that long to get good - and then they've got you hooked. Also, it does complete the "arc" of most of it's characters by the end and wraps up...

D&D 5E Should 5e have more classes (Poll and Discussion)?

More classes are cool. They don't necessarily have to be "official", though. So I put "neutral".

    Dune Official Trailer

I'd guess that the trailer probably made the movie look a lot more action-ey than it will actually be. I'm expecting something a lot more like Blade Runner 2049 - long running time, lots of slow, visceral scenes cut with occasional brutal action. Though probably a lot more talking than BR2049. ;)

    Dune Official Trailer

It's about the right length for a five and a half to six hour adaptation, which is probably what this will be when complete.
