    Dune Official Trailer

No, he's playing Duncan Idaho, who was played by Richard Jordan in the Lynch movie. Stewart was Gurney Hallack, who is being played by Josh Brolin (we see him briefly in the knife training duel in the trailer; didn't catch where else). Sting's character, Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, has not been cast...

Coming Monte Cook's Diamond Throne RPG

I'd be very excited about a 5e compatible remake of Arcana Evolved and The Diamond Throne. This? Meh. Not interested. But should the former ever come about... I'll be first in line for a copy!

    D&D 5E Epic Monsters: Rusalka

Of all the things we want to leave behind about our day to day reality, why is it THIS one that has to follow us into our fantasy?

D&D General Greyhawk did what? A partial list of Greyhawk Personalities

I think it was later determined that Acererak had built a Tomb of Horrors at all six locations - after all, none of them were the true Tomb! (One of them contained a portal to the true tomb, which was revealed in Return to the Tomb of Horrors. Lyzandred also borrowed this idea from Acererak, and...

Worlds of Design: When Technology Changes the Game

Back in college an erstwhile friend of mine and I were trying to design a far-future hard sci-fi game called "The Transhuman Condition". We had an incredible time worldbuilding, but when we got down to mechanics and trying to figure out exactly what adventures would look like in such a universe...

Worlds of Design: When Technology Changes the Game

WWII style dogfights between space fighters moving at incredible velocities being piloted by human reflexes? I don't think so! In reality, the distances would be so great you wouldn't even see the objects you were engaging with, and everything would be so much more efficiently handled by...

WotC New M:tG set announced: "Adventures in the Forgotten Realms"

Ah, good to know! I've been out of the loop for awhile... and it never made sense to me that we couldn't use Planeswalkers as commanders instead of legends, anyway...

WotC New M:tG set announced: "Adventures in the Forgotten Realms"

There'd better not be a Planeswalker Drizzt - I need a legend Drizzt so I can make my Drizzt commander deck!

Worlds of Design: When Technology Changes the Game

Or maybe it's a one-in-a-million maneuver. This could make sense I don't expect stories to be any more consistent than life, which generally isn't either, in most cases due to informational asymmetry. Perhaps being a trader rather than an academic has something to do with that. ;)

Worlds of Design: When Technology Changes the Game

There could be any number of reasons, though - you're assuming that hyperspace just works like normal acceleration, instead of being some kind of tech-magic. And I meant Mass Shadow: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Mass_shadow You're not exactly going to be running around with missiles that...

Worlds of Design: When Technology Changes the Game

It's long been established that you can't transport through shields, so you'd have to have the jump on them to pull this off.

Worlds of Design: When Technology Changes the Game

"Worst of these examples is the sudden discovery (after thousands of years of space travel) in Last of the Jedi that a spaceship could be used as a hyperspace missile and destroy the most powerful ship in the galaxy (the “Holdo Maneuver”). The consequences of this should have been that warships...

D&D 5E The Dead Milkmen's D&D Adventure: Lost Tomb of the Bitchin' Chimera

With Kyuss talking about a reunion, any promoter want to get them in on some module action? Anybody? I mean, come on, if any band would be up for this...

D&D General Greyhawk did what? A partial list of Greyhawk Personalities

A roleplaying group used to often be a gamemaster's own little cult; given how few people were in the hobby (at least after a certain age), they might often literally be "the only game in town". Now it's become a phenomenon, and thus more standardized, as people flit between groups and are...

D&D 5E Kate Welch on Leaving WotC

Those were good, but I don't think anything has yet topped the 1991 Black Box. The SRA Reading Program Style "Dungeon Card Learning Pack" was the most effective tool for teaching new players AND DMs that I've ever seen, and I loved the way it encouraged and taught new DMs to take control of the...

D&D 5E Kate Welch on Leaving WotC

I hope she doesn't think that stepping away from WotC is the end. Many of the most successful third-party designers walked away from WotC to start their own shop, have still collaborated with WotC from time to time, and their ex-WotC street cred did nothing but help them. To me, ex-WotC usually...

    Where's the American Fantasy RPG?

It's pretty easy to figure out a way to make modern-day vampires, werewolves and mages immune to gunfire. ;) (Heck, you can even bring back melee without magic - Dune manages well enough with just technology - personal kinetic shielding)
