I Do Not Understand Buying Computers

Also, if you are building for Skyrim, then the GPU isn't where your power should be coming from. Skyrim, like most Bethesda Games, is more CPU intensive than anything. Additionally, it's not optimized for multithreading. So buying an i9 series Intel chip is a waste of your money if that's your...

D&D 5E (2014) Cantrip nerf (house rule brainstorm)

As stated, a scroll is single-use. And the wand is good for about 2 or 3 charges per encounter because most recharge at sunrise, not on short rest. And at the last charge, it has a 5% chance of breaking. Of course, the caster could also use a magic staff as a melee weapon, bopping enemies for...

D&D 5E (2014) Cantrip nerf (house rule brainstorm)

Martial classes are probably going to have magic weapons around the time the party starts facing off against monsters that are immune or resistant to mundane damage. Meanwhile, the pajama-wearers are expected to not need weapons. So unless the caster has a +1 bow, he's going to be next to useless.

This. Wizard: Well, I'm out of cantrips. That's okay. I'll just pull out my trusty crossbow. Good thing I have a 14 DEX... Okay, Mandalf pulls out his light crossbow and fires at the slavering wight. Yuss! 16! I roll a 3. So that's 5 damage. DM: No. You do 2 damage.

D&D 5E (2014) Cantrip nerf (house rule brainstorm)

Question: Do you track arrows? Do you track wand charges? Be honest. If you are not tracking arrows and wand charges, are you prepared to track cantrips? Let's say you have 2 casters with cantrips in the party. You (or your players) will now be tracking cantrips, spell slots, and ammo (and...
