D&D General Elves are to the Feywild as ______ are to the Shadowfell?

I like your Prime Material branches of each side of the war idea. Lots of plot hooks. My own Shadowfell is somewhat......different, so needed an ancestry rather than an organization.

D&D General 1991 Dark Sun Setting Overview and Speculation

Nope. I was fascinated, and read every word. I now know what I want in a Dark Sun product: Your vision of the explored world of Athas. I like yours better than the original.

D&D General Elves are to the Feywild as ______ are to the Shadowfell?

Thank you for all of the replies! There are so many things I hadn't thought of. I do have some definite ideas about the plane of shadow. Less afterlife and more dreary dark reflection, with people going about their lives as best they can despite the darkness, despair, and monsters telling them...

D&D General Elves are to the Feywild as ______ are to the Shadowfell?

I messed up my reply. Will reply soon

D&D General Elves are to the Feywild as ______ are to the Shadowfell?

Interesting idea - I'm aware of Kobold's underground kingdom of ghouls, but not how their ghouls might live among other peoples. Would they be neighborly enough to work? Do they have some kind of planar attachment or abilities?

D&D General Elves are to the Feywild as ______ are to the Shadowfell?

Agreed. But I have trouble seeing them as townfolk. I've been thinking shadows, undead, darkness, fading.....trying to come up with something other than either Shadar-Kai or Vampires.

D&D General Elves are to the Feywild as ______ are to the Shadowfell?

But groups of them don't normally live in towns in the sunlight of the Prime Material. I don't think they would be happy there, and their neighbors might have some complaints as well.

D&D General Elves are to the Feywild as ______ are to the Shadowfell?

Elves (and their various relations) can serve a Prime Material community as a natural bridge to the Feywild, both attracting otherplanar threats and having wisdom on how to deal with them. At least that's one way of looking at how a contingent of elves (or Eladrin, or even half-elves) living in...

You may find this fascinating. I did.

D&D General Need wheat. Too dangerous. (worldbuilding)

This-is-amazing! So many ideas. Thank you, everyone. This has been so helpful. I never imagined I would get 5 pages of responses and quibbles and links and jokes and..... Anyway, thanks. You've fixed my (OP) worldbuilding problem and given me enjoyable material to read through on a tough day.

D&D General Need wheat. Too dangerous. (worldbuilding)

I've been having a suspension of belief recently over a commodity that is buyable just about anywhere - bread. Here's what got me stuck: 1. Bread is a cheap, freely available staple food. 2. You need huge fields outside the walls to make lots of bread. 3. Huge fields outside the walls will...

Fizban's Treasury of Dragons: An In-Depth Review

Love the review. Very informative. Makes me want even more to read the book. So - floating horns? They look really nice, and I get what they are supposed to represent, but how does that work, practically? Could I grab a gem dragonborn's horn and play keep-away with it? Could they wedge...

    Pre-Order Doctor Who 2E Now!

I'd love to see a review that does a deep dive into all the changes between the first and second editions. For example, is the Runners - Talkers - Fighters mechanic still there?

    D&D 5E (2014) Fizban's Treasury of Dragons: Dragon+ Detailed Outline and Descriptions

As a fan of the Death Gate Cycle, I hope they mention Zifnab somewhere in the book as well.

D&D General What do you expect in a starter village?

I consider Endhome from The Lost City of Barakus to be the best starting village, with strong ties to many adventure sites in the surrounding area. Although I guess it's quite a lot bigger than a village.

    D&D General Dryad thought experiment

So there's a forest with animals, fey creatures, and lots of dryads especially. Then the sky darkens, Mt. St. Helens erupts and covers the entire forest in mud, or a Tunguska event flattens it. However it happens, the trees are killed, buried, and maybe petrified or something. Obviously all the...

D&D 5E (2014) Meta pacts for those too aware

I've wondered about this too. But what could a PC or NPC possibly offer a GM to make it worth their while to have a Pact with them?

RPG Crowdfunding News – Death Divers, The Ooze and You!, and more

Egg, I follow your column religiously to see what's new, but the new briefer style makes it more difficult to tell which products I might be interested in.
