    D&D 5E (2024) What happens when a multiclass character loses a prerequisite?

Mixtral AI had this to say: In Dungeons & Dragons, when a character loses a prerequisite for a class they have multiclassed into, they do not lose the abilities they have already gained from that class. However, they cannot gain any more levels in that class until they once again meet the...

D&D General What’s the story here?

The House of 1,001 Formerly Sane Architects. Or just the setting for Dracula 7. Or both?

Wizards of the Coast's Archetype Entertainment to Publish Exodus TTRPG Based on Upcoming Exodus Video Game

I think that's pretty standard when one goes on a long journey. :sneaky: I'm just glad to see that I'm not the only one who's been secretly thinking "exodus" for weeks now.

    Free Clive Evil vs FiveEvil

Clive handles his cell phone well for someone his age! I see how Intensity can make a situation more fearful for the players - a high(er) DC can be intimidating, and isn't something a character would necessarily know. Are there other elements that make the game scarier for the players instead...

Suggest to me a rules lite(ish) modern fantasy/horror RPG

Edit: sorry Major. I just noticed that this was your first post. Be sure to pay attention to the timestamps on threads/posts... a particular conversation may have been over for years by the time you get to it.

    Aging and Gaming

"Gazebo" is the word you're looking for. I gave you a Sad Face (tm) because I now know why we'll never see another Song of Ice and Fire.

    Aging and Gaming

Ah, to have kid-brain again. Aging might be one reason that I'm preferring light games now. And dropping my glasses to read things (why are game rooms always so poorly lit?). There are games for that. Hear, hear! You'll need these for the nostalgia, and for tons of awesome ideas that can be...

The case for democracy* in RPG settings

Oh, you're assuming one of the choices presented by Happyland's democracy was not evil?

The case for democracy* in RPG settings

I wonder if Prismatic Wasteland has read A Song of Ice and Fire, because the Westerosi monarchy is anything but static. Also, what happens when the democrats elect a despot? Is the game just over? (Go team Joffrey!)

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

Are we surprised that Musk has come to the side of someone holding misogynist views?

Amazing Adventures: An Interview with Jason Vey

Seconded. Plus, it's nice to see a character's (NPCs) level be used directly. I think Numenera does this too - a character level is how much damage it does and its bonuses to rolls (or something similar). I always dreaded writing up d20 NPCs until I realized they didn't need full character...

GMing: What If We Say "Yes" To Everything?

Words like "succeed" and "try" imply that the GM is still asking for rolls. Or the PCs are making themselves roll. "The GM always says yes" would go something like:

Coming Introducing Trotamunda, some of his art [work in progress].

    1) I don't know why someone would play anything other than the green iguana. It's awesome and scary. 2) My guess (from someone who hates marketing) is that your PWYW idea would fall way behind what a Kickstarter would produce. But a Starter Kit (with adventure) sounds like a really good idea...

GMing: What If We Say "Yes" To Everything?

This reads to me as, "the GM says 'roll' to everything." That's significantly different than the Original Premise.

D&D Movie/TV Hasbro Getting Out Of The Movie Business

Had the stars aligned, it wouldn't have been the second. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1733125/ Bring earplugs. I do. If movies were any less loud, you'd hear whining kids, cellphone conversations, chomping of dine-in meals, and probably flatulence (hopefully not too close). I'm glad they're...

Amazing Adventures: An Interview with Jason Vey

Those are manageably short NPCs! For those of us unfamiliar with C&C*, do the NPCs follow the same rules that PCs do, or is there some other guidance on how to draw them up? * "If you know Castles & Crusades, you’ll be up and running with AA in ten seconds flat."

D&D 5E (2024) Two Spells, One Turn Confusion Never Dies

You might want to take another look at this (or correct me). "Prepared" now means "known," so there's no longer such thing as having one fireball prepared. If you have a spell prepared and the right spell slot(s), you can cast it.

Amazing Adventures: An Interview with Jason Vey

Is the forthcoming monster book related to Amazing Adventures? That didn't seem clear from the context. But, if JV abhors statting up NPCs . . . how are DIY GMs going to feel about it? It sounds like fodder for a future design goal.
