D&D 5E (2014) Which classes have the least identity?

This is the crux of the Banneret's problem: it doesn't give you anything new to use, it just gives you new way to use the stuff you have! Even the Monk and its Ki hording subclasses doesn't leave you as high and dry in terms of resources. They never tried a subclass like this again and I don't...

D&D 5E (2014) Which classes have the least identity?

Considering how unpopular they are I'm probably not the only one who finds those two subclass boring. I guess the Purple Dragon Knight has good hooks for role-play, and Royal Envoy is a nice out of combat feature but waiting to 7th level for it feels a bit ridiculous (at least it anticipates...

TSR Monster Paralysis: Reason for Lack of Durations in OD&D, Holmes, AD&D

How did D&D survive those early years?

D&D 5E (2014) Which classes have the least identity?

I agree, in general 5e is balanced enough for the majority of players and you have to go out of your way to really break things. I don't think Battlerager and Banneret are terrible because they're that numerically inferior, I think they're just boring. The Banneret in particular is mostly...

TSR Monster Paralysis: Reason for Lack of Durations in OD&D, Holmes, AD&D

So how were you supposed to get rid of it?

    MichaelSomething's 4E Comeback special

you know, considering how our Warlord DMPC seems inspired by Mulan (the movie) maybe we should all try to create characters who channel various Disney movies... And then almost had issue with 1 but I think we handled him pretty well.

We could always see about forming an entirely new, more comedic, party.

D&D 5E (2014) Which classes have the least identity?

Well, it certainly means they fail to excite people if they're not popular enough. Gotta be a reason for that.

D&D 5E (2014) Which classes have the least identity?

The Battlerager is the only subclass with a racial restriction left. They removed it from the Bladesinger so why not reprint the Battlerager without it?

D&D 5E (2014) Which classes have the least identity?

Considering neither have EVER be reprinted, it seems that WotC also considers them a mistake.

No problem myself, however... We might still have a need for the Paladin's healing ability, all things considered...

    MichaelSomething's 4E Comeback special

Thanks to @MichaelSomething we had a good time. We defeated some Ninjas and then almost got our butt kicked by Orcs. We kept rolling pretty badly at the worst of time and the Orcs had INSANE one-shot damage abilities. I don't know if I picked the right Daily for my Invoker but the Encounter...

D&D 5E (2014) Which classes have the least identity?

The Polearm is the best weapon. It also has reach but much better damage and you can combine it with Polearm Mastery and maybe Sentinel.

D&D 5E (2014) Which classes have the least identity?

Same here. I'd rather have a ton of specific class than 4 generic ones.

D&D 5E (2014) Should Explicit Monster Roles Return?

It's just a way to quickly communicate 'This monster is good at this thing in battle', it's not that deep of a concept.

D&D 5E (2014) Should Explicit Monster Roles Return?

Neat to see the 60%/40% split. I'd still like to know how the 'No' camp describes Monster Roles and how they think they work, because it often feels like they imagine them way more restrictive than they actually are?

    D&D General What are humans?

Regardless of what we decide I really like the subtle 4e lore that the Human God that everybody forgot about is the one Asmodeus killed to ascend to god hood and the 9 Hells was formerly his domain.
