    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #3: "New Paladin"

Just nerfing one of the few ways where it TRULY felt like mixing of magic and swordplay. Now it's just a buff spell.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #3: "New Paladin"

They didn't need to make them feats just to put them all in one section. Spells aren't feats.

Is this Dungeons & Dragons or Feats & Spells?!

    D&D 5E (2024) Collage of Dance Reveal

I forgot to mention the Warlock get their Pact Boon at 3rd level and that's a sort of subclass too so their progression becomes 1-3-6-10-14. I guess Magical Secrets is like a Warlock's Pact Boon and their Invocation in that it's highly customizable. I think Magical Secrets can be seen as a...

    D&D 5E (2024) All 48 Player’s Handbook 2024 Subclasses

I've been saying for a while that their known spells should be cut in half! One half would be from the base class and would use the Wizard spell list, the second half would either be traded in for class features, or come from a RESTRICTED list provided by their subclass. ESPECIALLY the school...

    D&D 5E (2024) All 48 Player’s Handbook 2024 Subclasses

I feel like Shepperd would have been a popular druid to put in the PHB compared to the Sea one. This is why the Cleric should have used a system similar to the Warlock, so you could build blasty Cleric and Fighty Cleric and Healing Cleric from the same domains. That way you wouldn’t need a...

    D&D 5E (2024) Collage of Dance Reveal

Yeah, it's really weird. I guess they had too much base class features to stick in there? Looking at it, at 6th they get an extra Expertise and I feel like that they could have gotten another subclass feature right there. Actually they have the same progression as Barbarians (3-6-10-14) if you...

    D&D 5E (2024) Collage of Dance Reveal

3-6-14 feels fairly normal. As @UngeheuerLich points out, magical secrets at 10 can act to support your subclass so seeing it as 3-6-10-14 is not so bad. The Rogue gets 3-9-13-17 The Warlock 1-6-10-14 The Fighter is 3-7-10-15-18 The Wizard 2-6-10-14 Same for the Druid, 2-6-10-14 The Sorcerer...

D&D 5E (2014) Advice for the Skill Monkey Blues?

I've really enjoyed homebrewing subclasses recently, but now I gotta wait until the new book comes out before really diving into it again. I also kinda wanted to take a stab at the Wizard to try and make it more than a pile of spells. I also wanted to experiment with the Warlock frame for...

D&D 5E (2024) Will monsters and NPCs get weapon masteries?

They'll be there, but not called out by name and just be incorporated into the action. We don't need more NPCs that force you to check other books it's a dumb design.

D&D 5E (2014) Advice for the Skill Monkey Blues?

Alright! Keep us posted! I don't know if I would put the Crane as the Constitution one... Feels more of a Dragon thing. I could see the Crane moving to Intelligence and then you put the Monkey in CHA and give it Bluff, since monkeys are tricky.

D&D 5E (2014) Advice for the Skill Monkey Blues?

Well I felt like the Halberd was too strong as starting equipment, so I gated it to specific subclasses. But this is an older homebrew and I should to do another pass at it at some point. Speaking of, I was inspired and made you a new Bard College. It's not really balanced at all :p but it...

D&D 5E (2014) Advice for the Skill Monkey Blues?

Just quit man, this ain't gonna work. If they want to play FPS tabletop they should probably use a different game system. Or you all just embrace that style and use squad tactics. Grab my homebrew Warlord and go Ballistarius for the ranged synergy...

So what can 4e learn from 5e?

I'd say less feats, but more impactful ones. Chosing a feat is just a lot of options to go through for a tiny advantage. Yeah I think you should only be able to know two reactions at a time: opportunity attack, plus one from your class. Having multiple off-turn options on one character is too...

Why is the Gish so popular with players?

Speaking of 4e you could do a fairly resilient front line Wizard who uses Close Blast and Burst powers in 4e: Go Human, +4 INT and +3 CON, pick up Staff of Defense as Master (+1 to AC and a once per encounter +CON to AC reaction), pick up Leather Armor proficiency as level 1 feat and then add...

Why is the Gish so popular with players?

The base Rogue is a very solid class on its own. Their subclasses only have 4 levels one of them is usually a type of ribbon or non-combat effect. I did do a one-shot as Fey Bladelock once! I was Gnome and put all I could into DEX and almost nothing in CHA :p Used Mage Armor and picked up...

Eh, that's just an aesthetic preferences.

Why is the Gish so popular with players?

It matters to the player but I don't think it matters to this discussion. It's all abstract at this point. We have two type of Gish: 1- The guy who can chose between method A or method B, usually on a turn based basis 2- The guy who combines A and B into a new C with most actions. What each...
