Why is the Gish so popular with players?

New proposition: we call them WiFi! Wizard/Fighter

Why is the Gish so popular with players?

Nah, we want a guy who fuses magic and sword skill, not just a guy who does sword stuff with one hand and the next turn uses magic on the other. We want Gish to have a battle style of their own. The Bladelock has a magical construct as a sword and the Paladin with their Smites is the closest to...

Why is the Gish so popular with players?

And then the Ranger uses spells! Same for the Battle Cleric or the Paladin or the Sword Bard too...

Why is the Gish so popular with players?

Agreed on all points. The 5e Gishes are really just 'Sword with one hand, magic with the other' and they rarely mix them properly, especially in ways 4e did it.

    MichaelSomething's 4E Comeback special

Alright so I'm definately taking the Faith Healing Skill Power for level 2. It's a Daily power with a melee touch that lets the target spend a healing surge. Not sure what to do with my feat. I'm tempted to take the Skill Power feat and grabbing Arcane Muttering, but I'm also tempted by Jack of...

The AI Red Scare is only harming artists and needs to stop.

The real culprit are the companies who stole work of art to train their models and then released it to the public. If they hadn't done that there would be no panic. AI art generator only exist because capitalists don't want to pay the fair worth of artist's labor but still profit from it.

    AD&D 1E Favorite Obscure Rules from TSR-era D&D

I kinda want to create a board game that works like this, where you recruit heroes, delve into a dungeon and try to go as far as possible into a deck of monster and then run away when everybody is battered with your loot. then you can spend turns healing or recruit more heroes to go delving...

Okay and after three fruits? This naughty word's not only a sucker trap, it's complicated as hell for no reason.

    AD&D 1E Favorite Obscure Rules from TSR-era D&D

Play it like Dynasty Warrior: dot some objectives to capture on the battle map, stat up a couple generals and randomly have your allies fail to control the objectives or contend with the generals and the PCs have to run around taking care of it :p Weren't Clerics specifically created to deal...

Striker is really the best role for the Monk. Being a Skirmisher who can waylay enemies with a single punch is, IMO, the best match for the martial artist fantasy people want.

Yeah it sounds pretty cool. I didn't play much strikers so that could be a way to go in the future.

D&D 5E (2014) Adapting the Warlock Chassis for other Classes

I was thinking the Paladin would be SUPER easy to do like this! Just replace the Spell Slots with self-scaling Smites! Then you can use Invocations (or I guess 'Prayers'? Blessings? Divine Boons?) for utility magic and ways to modify the Smites further. Their Arcanum equivalent would be called...

man those early D&D editions feel like a bunch of different board games stapled together that you're trying to play all at the same time.

I've been looking at the various 4e class I got access to and specifically the ones I never used before... I didn't remember the 4e Monk was an Implement user! There's not a single [W] power in the Monk's class! Despite them still getting 1d8 with unarmed attacks, mind you.

D&D 5E (2014) Adapting the Warlock Chassis for other Classes

For the Fighter the way I'd see it is the Patron would be a Martial School, a philosophical tradition, preferably with a flavourful name like "Blazing Phoenix of the West" or "Platinum Guardian of the Unbreakable Rampart". The Pact would probably be the fighting style in a broad sense. One...
