    Daggerheart Core Set Covers Revealed

4e sold "power up" cards briefly. They were random and gave you a small hand of cards you'd play to give yourself perks during play. If you were willing to throw money at it, you could build yourself a cooler deck than those who didn't. WotC swore non-card users would not be at a disadvantage...

Arcane Season 2 Starts on Saturday, 9 Nov 24 on Netflix

I just read in a few different places that the makers of Arcane always planned it for 2 seasons, but have plans for a show focussed on other characters from same world. Here's hoping!

D&D General What is your most prized Dungeons and Dragons Product?

My grey box Forgotten Realms. My half melted dice from my old red box set that my best friend gave me for Christmas. Actually, I guess the whole red box!

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

The book is a celebration of the history. The foreword clarifies the attitudes that were wrong then, as now, and reminds the readers of the game's current, more inclusive environment. As a society, we can get better. A nice reminder these days when the world can seem bleak. History always...

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

I find that the rare times I've had players push, the rest of the players will shut it down with a simple, yeah, dream on.

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

I run and play a variety of rpgs. If I'm in a game where players do not have input into the setting during play, I'll be happy. If the GM encourages player input, I'll be happy. If the game is interesting and engaging I can go either way. As a GM, I'm realizing I really enjoy encouraging...

D&D General A glimpse at WoTC's current view of Rule 0

I have to admit that the first time I ran Brindlewood Bay, I was nervous. I had a victim, a list of suspects, clues and locations. How is this going to come together? What if it takes only an hour to play? Will the players feel like they actually solved a mystery? Will the players be able to...

What games, currently, have your interest?

Dolmenwood: waiting excitedly for the physical copies Wildsea: been meaning to run this for a while. It looks really good Brindlewood Bay: I recently started running a campaign. We are all having fun. Might mix it up with Wildsea, as not sure the group wants to do BB every week. Fabula...

D&D 5E (2024) Bastion - Missing Facilities (ie theres no diplomacy!)

I'd love the facilities to be examples. It'd be great if players could start a bastion at any level, as long as they can afford to start one. Unusual abilities could be added, but not necessarily from a predetermined list. I'd maybe want a particular facility not listed or have my garden do...

Which game does monster hunting well?

We made characters for Supernatural but weren't too sure about the system. We translated our characters into Fate and had a great time. The Supernatural book worked great as a resource, however.

    D&D 5E (2024) Why aren't you using 5e 2024?

A feat would work. I'm also imagining a rewrite of the dragonborn as a more whimsical dragony species, not the traditional more earthy dragonborn. The ability to create magical energy as breath and wings, (with the wing slap built in) now makes more sense, as they are more fae like. They'd...

    D&D 5E (2024) Why aren't you using 5e 2024?

When we play F20 games, we vastly prefer Level Up or OSE and can't wait for Dolmenwood to be released physically. I find reading 2024 grating. In my mind I'm reaching for a red editing pen, not to fix the grammar, but to untangle some of the sentences and vastly reduce the jargon. The...

    Best Horror Role Playing Game

My favourites are: Trail of Cthulhu: I really like the investigative system in Gumshoe games Old Gods of Appalachia: I have some qualms with the Cypher system but this game is packed with awesome lore and game hooks Vaesen: I love the folklore horror in this one and the art is fantastic The...

    D&D General Introduction in the 1978 1st Edition AD&D Player's Handbook

I think at one point Gary said AD&D was for tournaments and Basic for your home games. The term, advanced, however, made fans feel more special. A lot of the ideas in the 1e DMG were never playtested and Gary admitted he never used them himself, so I always wondered how he expected them to be...

    D&D General 2024 Monster Creation

The D&D designers make monsters, a lot of them. If they can't give fans guidelines for creating new monsters, then something is off. Just tell fans how they do it. 13th Age has an excellent monster creation system because the book gives us procedures the designers used themselves.
