Every, I mean every company or independent author of a rpg book, who sends a promotional copy of their product to a you tuber, wants to see their product showcased. That's the point. Build up hype and hopefully get some positive vibes going. Why would any YouTuber assume WotC is different? The...
I loved the old Reincarnate spell too! Over the years it has become more and more bland. It isn't suppose to be Resurrection with a Phb species switch. Like you said, a big gamble, and if you did come back as an eagle or a bugbear, it was fun.
I'm very intrigued by Ghostfire's revamping of their Grimhollow. It's being updated to be in line with 2024 but I'd use it with 2014 or Level Up. The character creation looks really really good so far, as well as the Monster Hunter class.
Beyond the Wall is a great game.
I'm in agreement about the 2024 edition. It pushed too far in a direction that is grating on me. Too many obstacles removed for players, which is cutting down on tricky choices, or nail biters.
How can you pull a potion out of your bag, open it and down the...
I think the pushback is not that anyone thinks once you hide you turn magically invisible and can bounce out of hiding with impunity. The problem is in the wording. And the very real possibility players will argue for the ridiculous interpretation cause... people.
Since the rules are careful...
My current Masterpiece game is "The Wildsea." It has elements of PbtA in its gameplay but no playbooks. There is lots of choice and mixing and matching in character creation, which I love.
The world is unique and quirky, with plenty of room for players and GM to put their own stamp on it...
And plain old human nature. We are more likely to contact a business over bad service or products than reach out over good service. I called a store to praise one of their clerks and there was genuine surprise and gratitude. They were geared up for a complaint.
5e was fun. I've been already drifting away from it however, and 2024 feels like it's doubling down on things I didn't really like in 5e, without adding much I do like. For my D&D itch, we've got Level Up. When we're craving something lighter, there's Shadowdark, OSE, and others in the N/OSR...
Should be interesting decisions for survival and exploration. Do we push on in hopes of finding shelter or risk resting here? How safe is this strange shrine we've found? Why is the weather acting odd? Umm, why is there an Inn in the middle of nowhere? Should we shelter in the strange cave...
My favourite organizational style in a rpg book is to have rules fully explained in the text, and brief explanations in the glossary/index. The glossary definitions provide quick reminders you might need and the rules in the main body are fully fleshed out, possibly with examples.
But it has been explained. If a freelancer, for example, is looking for work, the prospective employer will check the credits that the freelancer has listed on their CV. If they are not credited, it can easily be assumed that the person is lying or exaggerating. They might not bother to call...
Many creatives on this thread have thoroughly explained the importance of credits. Why are there doubts? We should be assuming that the writers and designers in the field in question know how the process works.
