    Our plans actually came together!

Do highly unique characters still get a bad rep; and: how to give them room to exist?

In my many years of playing and running games I have only rarely seen behaviour that even comes close to this.

No More Massive Tomes of Rules

For me, spells having a light touch as regards to rules is fantastic. It lets magic feel magical and really frees up player creativity. I dislike spells that dictate exactly what the magic can and cannot do, exact distances, how its cast, etc. I love having casters say, "Hey, can I tweak this...

Do highly unique characters still get a bad rep; and: how to give them room to exist?

Well. I felt my character was really unique in a game I was in because he was a normal human ranger with a very mundane background. The other three characters were very non-standard, with unique backgrounds, so I stood out. 😂 Having said this I enjoy having weird or unique characters too...

No More Massive Tomes of Rules

I'm running Black Sword Hack. We've been playing regularly for months with absolutely no problems. The whole game is 103 pages. The Characters are well developed and jt feels like Sword & Sorcery. I'm currently playing in a long running Shadowdark game. Prince Valiant, Mouseritter, Ars Magica...

No More Massive Tomes of Rules

I find that too many rules and subsystems bog a game down to the point that versimiltude, that all those rules are trying to support in the first place, gets lost.

No More Massive Tomes of Rules

Me too. I'm loving my 100 page smaller size Black Sword Hack, while at the same time having a blast with Old Gods and the extra bits from the KS.

    Tell Me About DC20

He's very excited about the system and it does look good. I'm pretty sure he'll be adding lots of supplements, provided it has the support. Dungeon Coach has shifted to full time you tuber and game designer. I'm feeling pretty optimistic for him. Like other successful you tubers, DC built up an...

    D&D General 5E, A5E, or ToV?

A5e for sure! I love the herirage/culture system. Making characters is a lot of fun and all three books are useful. I use Trials and Treasures frequently and find the Monster book to be way more interesting than 5e. The dungeon supplement is extremely well done. Our only minor quibble is that...

    D&D 5E (2024) Do you plan to adopt D&D5.5One2024Redux?

Since @Oofta is replacing the features with ones which work better for his game, why the pushback? Players are getting features...

Level Up (A5E) Mixed Heritages- Have you used them during character creation or to create a new heritage?(+)

I haven't home brewed mixed heritages yet but it'll probably happen. I love the mixed heritage system. I had a gnome/halfling ranger and recently a human/dwarf wizard.

I'm so sorry. It's never easy. Buddy seems like he was a great friend.

What are your "dumbest" TTRPG costs

Dice for me too! I have (so far) resisted a beautiful etched glass set that's over $100 Canadian. So far...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is There No Warlord Equivalent in 5E?

Really? I don't remember that. Let's bring the healer back! 🦄😀

D&D 5E (2014) Why is There No Warlord Equivalent in 5E?

Theses are my Warlord class recollections: Near the end of 3.5 WotC published a miniatures/warfare type supplement. It introduced the Marshall and Healer classes. The book was not well received, except for the Marshall class. 4e came out not too long after, and the Marshall moved into the new...

D&D General D&D "influencers" need to actively acknowledge other games.

Ginny mentioned a few times that she loves D&D and isn't that interested in switching games. Having said that, she mentioned Fate on a video a while back, suggesting that its way of building character connections to each other and the world could be adopted to 5e. She occasionally talks about...

What makes an TTRPG a "Narrative Game" (Daggerheart Discussion)

I'm playing in a game right now with lots of roleplaying, deep drama, personal conflicts and tricky moral decisions. The players have choices in a sandboxy way on where we will go and how we'll deal with situations. The game is Shadowdark! Aha, you might say. Doesn't this prove that any game can...

    Not DnD | Action-Heroes RPG

D&D absolutely dominates the rpg landscape. "Not D&D" is not an insulting name, just a place to showcase other games, and independent creators. Also, D&D has that brand name recognition similar to Kleenex. "Not Pathfinder" wouldn't really work. It's a great show, not a hate WotC show.

D&D 5E (2014) Delve from Bob World Builder and Others

It's doing really well on KS, so yes, market can support more.😊
