Unique British aspects of D&D in the UK?

So you're from Kent, I take it?

Alternate systems suggestions to play in the world of Harn

Well, combat in Mythras (and other d100 adjacent games) is crunchy because it's supposed to be a rare occurence (as opposed to D&D adjacent games). It's quite deadly. Hârnworld is a deep RP setting, it's not supposed to be combat-heavy. If you have players who try to solve every problem by...

Alternate systems suggestions to play in the world of Harn

Another possible fit, and very rules-lite, is Brittannia Games' "Essence Core" system: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/m/product/389426

Alternate systems suggestions to play in the world of Harn

I'll throw in another vote for Mythras. It's a wonderful system for more down-to-earth settings. D&D 5E would imho be a horrible choice for Hârnworld.

Player-driven campaigns and developing strong stories

This makes me incredibly sad. I would love to play in an "absolute freedom" sandbox with other dedicated players, yet I find myself being the DM whenever I get to play (rarely enough, unfortunately), and mostly to run pre-published adventures. [emoji29][emoji29][emoji29]

    Is Resource Management “Fun?”

Right around when gameplay transitioned from dungeon delving to wilderness (h)exploration. [emoji28]

    Show me your dice

Here's mine. The blue non-standard ones are d7, d24, and d30. I figure they could be useful for random weekdays, random hours in a day, and random days in a month.

    Is Resource Management “Fun?”

How about taking it as an opportunity to learn something? [emoji2369] Researching such things is a huuuge part of the appeal of RPGs for me.

    Is Resource Management “Fun?”

There's people who play computer games like Thief, Splinter Cell, or Far Cry and immediately turn on Infinite Ammo, All Guns, and Invulnerability and then complain when they've played through the game in a couple of hours. I don't understand those people. Where's the challenge? Where's the fun...

    Is Resource Management “Fun?”

What makes it unfun? The actual tracking itself, or the consequences when you run out? The former can usually be remedied by a dedicated tracking sheet, the latter by making the consequences interesting in their own right.

The Greatest Computer Games of All Time (Apple 2 Edition)

We had an Apple II (iirc) when I was a kid, though my memories are fuzzy. I just vaguely remember playing a sort of graphic adventure (mostly static images) where you had to type what you wanted to do (go left, pick up xxx, use yyy, etc) , which wasn't very easy for a kid with only a rudimentary...

Most definetly. If you want medieval Europe, play HârnMaster. [emoji4]

D&D General Dice Fudging and Twist Endings

I don't disagree with Moldvay, as far as "interesting adventure" goes, but when it comes to the enjoyment of the game, I maintain that the responsability is shared equally. The players don't "consume" a campaign "prepared for them by the DM", they create it, together as a group, on the fly. If...

D&D General Dice Fudging and Twist Endings

I disagree. That responsibility falls on everyone equally. The DM's role is to "roleplay" everything that is not a PC, and to impartially interpret the results of the dice. The DM is not the players' court-jester.

Games I haven't run, but want to: Hyperborea The One Ring 2E Barbarians of the Ruined Earth Mythras Hârnworld (or possibly Mythras in Hârn) Something suitably S&S like Crypts & Things, Barbarians of Lemuria, or Sharp Swords & Sinister Spells Pendragon
