WotC Greg Tito On Leaving WotC: 'It feels good to do something that doesn't just line the pockets of *****'

I'm glad someone previously on the inside was willing to acknowledge issues within the company. However, like at least one other person mentioned, bashing a former employer will often make it much harder to convince potential new employers to hire you.

D&D General D&D 2024 does not deserve to succeed

By new, I would say games created at or around the OGL scandal. I wouldn't necessarily expect them to fail, but my guess is that they will have a very tiny audience. Not because they aren't good, but because of lack of momentum as well as the fact that D&D has a robust infrastructure that...

Trailer Sid Meier’s Civilization VII - Gameplay Reveal Trailer

I'm not sure I like the idea of being forced into a new era. It seems like an artificial way to give a boost to a player who may be falling behind the AI.

D&D General D&D 2024 does not deserve to succeed

Regardless of whether D&D2024 deserves to succeed or not, it's the 800 pound gorilla in the industry and it can produce substandard adventures, rule book, etc with little consequence. It's unfortunate, but it's the reality of a business that dominates an industry. Complexity is personal taste...

    D&D 5E (2024) Warlock -- initial analyses

To answer your last question first - It's the promise of greater and greater power as they complete their task/quest (or whatever) - and not every patron requires a soul. Those 3 examples are certainly creative, but I was looking for an "official" consistent reason of why it was moved to level...

    D&D 5E (2024) Warlock -- initial analyses

Not needing to choose a patron until level 3 makes absolutely no sense to me. The whole defining characteristic of being a warlock is that you make a pact with an otherworldly being, or they make an involuntary pact with you. In some way or another, a connection between the PC and the patron...

They will likely update it to be in line with current sensibilities.

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast Backtracks on D&D Beyond and 2014 Content

I avoid processed foods, cheese and drink reverse osmosis water from my well, so probably not too many Nestle products. :) Regardless, food from a major food producer is not the same thing as a gaming company.

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast Backtracks on D&D Beyond and 2014 Content

No, I don't buy anything from Nestle. A corporation should be judged on it's own merits/lack thereof, not how it compares relative to other corporations.

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast Backtracks on D&D Beyond and 2014 Content

You genuinely believe that most of the things WoTC does are innocent mistakes "or unforced errors"?

D&D General What is the right amount of Classes for Dungeons and Dragons?

As long as they can introduce classes that offer new play options, I don't see why there should be a limit. However, when the classes start overlapping each other and start feeling the same mechanically with just a splash of flavor, that's when they should stop, imo.

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast Backtracks on D&D Beyond and 2014 Content

Late to the thread, but I've seen a number of comments that amount to: "They listen to the customer and reversed course, so what's the problem". The fact that they reversed course is a good thing, but that's a really low bar to judge them by. What people should be asking is WHY does WoTC do...

WotC D&D Hiring New Game Designer Months After Firing Many

I assume that was a joke? :) But just in case it wasn't. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_job#:~:text=A%20fake%20job%2C%20ghost%20job,save%20time%20and%20cut%20cost.

Trailer Star Trek: Section 31 | Teaser Trailer | Paramount+

Ugh... I had high hopes for Section 31, but I get a DISCO vibe from the trailer. There area lot of good stories you can tell with the "original" section 31, it didn't need to be reimagined for modern audiences.

D&D 5E (2024) Motley Fool Prediction: New Dungeons & Dragons Edition Won't Help Hasbro Much

I don't think the books are a good indicator. The true test is if WoTC can cash in on it's plans to push D&D to virtual spaces, subscriptions, microtransactions, licensing, etc.

Do you need or prefer physical dice when playing?

I use the digital dice available on whichever VTT I happen to be using. I haven't used physical dice since the start of COVID.
