    D&D 5E (2024) Speculation Welcome: What's Next for D&D?

Stating the obvious, but WoTC will continue to push for an online only environment (with books slowly fading away, or becoming a novelty/collectible.) They will aggressively increase micro transactions beyond costumes for your avatar. Pay to play/win is definitely on the table. "Your 1st level...

[+]Training and Reward, not Assumed Advancement

If I recall correctly, 1E required PC to spend 1 month per level engaging in training in order to level up.

D&D General How long should an after work online gaming session be ideally?

Our online games which we hold on Fridays typically last 4 to 5 hours. If it were held on any other day of the work week, it probably wouldn't go for more than 3 hours. But of course, the available time is dependent on everyone's work schedule.

What is, in your opinion, the single WORST RPG ever made, and why is it so bad?

It was in the early to mid 80's, so probably the first edition.

What is, in your opinion, the single WORST RPG ever made, and why is it so bad?

Gamma World The idea was cool, but the gameplay was just "meh" for me.

Tell me about your Bossfights! What went right, what went wrong?

In 5E, the fight goes better if the BBEG has a bunch of minions. Otherwise, they will be defeated quickly by the party's superior action economy. If that's not an option, then fights will go better if the BBEG's HP and AC are materially buffed, has at least 1 powerful magic item, and the lair...

DnD while married/relationship - any advice

I didn't say you can't do both. It's a matter of priorities, and making time for all things in your life. But ultimately, IMO, family and job are more important than games.

DnD while married/relationship - any advice

Spouses, children and job come first. TTRPG's comes second.

Is it time to corral AI threads?

It seems like an AI wrote the OP. :) ;)

D&D 5E (2014) How much should it cost to use a permanent teleportation circle?

The underlying problem with this question is that high level characters in 5E typically have so much gold that costs are irrelevant.

It seems like the OP covered all of them.

    D&D 5E (2014) Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

For that reason above, WoTC and D&D have nothing to worry about. Folks here are the exception. 98% of D&D players don't care about all of the various WoTC controversies, and will continue playing D&D no matter what. WoTC doesn't really even need to create a walled garden to maintain its market...

D&D General "I'd like to run (or play in) an all ___________ campaign." (+)

My current PF2 game is an all dwarf party, by coincidence. I asked everyone to create a character, and they swear that they didn't get together and plan it.

How well do you predict non-OGL/CC games will do?

The ultimate factor that will determine if a non D&D TTRPG will be successful is if people can find other people to play with. It may be a great game, but if your circle of friends isn't interested, or if you don't have a reliable way of recruiting non local folks online, the game will not...

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

It's the end of a golden age for WoTC, not for TTRPGs. But you don't need a golden age to be successful/profitable. They will likely find ways to extract more dollars per capita from existing players Whether people will tolerate that in the long run remains to be seen.

    D&D 5E (2014) Predictions for D&D 2024?

I predict that WoTC will lobby for a new law that gives personhood to AI. They will then forcefully remove all of their artist with assistance from the Pinkertons, and hire an AI to do the illustrations (that can now be legally regarded as a person), allowing them to technically keep their...

Pathfinder 2E PF2 Remastered - Does attack of opportunity still exist, or was it replaced by reactive strike?

During our last game a player wanted to take an attack of opportunity, but I couldn't find it referenced in the remastered rules. I know about reactive strike, but as far as I can tell, it is a fighter-only feature. So, if attack of opportunity still exists in the remastered rules, where is it...

WotC [Updated!] Hasbro Laying Off 1,100 Employees

I agree. People tend to focuse on the income statement, but really should be paying attention to the statement of cash flows.
