D&D 5E (2024) Oh Ye of Little FAITB

I've always viewed them as backstory aids for people who need some ideas. I personally can do without them, and I don't require it as part of building a PC.

Pathfinder 2E Confession: I Want to Run PF2 But I Don't Want to Learn It

If you decide to go ahead with PF2, I would wait until at least November when PF "2.5" is released.

    How Do I Escape D&D?

"Escaping" D&D can be hard because it's the 5,000 pound elephant in the RPG space, that most people have heard of and it's also the easiest to find players (or a DM) for. 1. My suggestion is to wait to the end of a long campaign. The sense of completion will "give them permission" to try...

    Cookin again

I went to an Ethiopian restaurant years ago and really enjoyed the food (in the U.S.). I've never been able to find anther one, and every time I've mentioned it to someone, they inevitably make a joke about the food in the context of the famine from years ago.

D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 will now be releasing August 3rd on PC and September 6th on PS5, increased level cap, race & class details and more

I'm looking forward to this! I purchased it when it was first released during early access and got a refund. Hopefully, most of the issues have been addressed. Is it just me, or does the women in the OP have a passing resemblance to Yennefer from the Witcher?

D&D 5E (2014) Do you let PC's just *break* objects?

Back in the 1E days, there were mechanics for that. Generally, the object got a saving throw depending on what it was made of, or if it was magical.

    D&D 5E (2014) Constructive Criticism

I think the comic says it all. Be tactful. Also, only provide criticism on things the DM can change.

Let's talk about printing & shipping RPG books

D&D is under monetized after all... ;) Seriously though, I would expect costs to increase over time, but given recent bad press, the timing may not be ideal. And it is a substantial increase. I'm not sure you can blame inflation 100%. There is a video on YT by Robert Reich that essentially...

D&D 5E (2024) What would change for you if Wizards started calling it 6E?

It's my understanding that going forward after the 2024 update, they want to make periodic updates fluidly without any "markers" or lines in the sand. So, for example, it will be like a game developer releasing a minor version update or bug fix to their software.

D&D 5E (2024) What would change for you if Wizards started calling it 6E?

If only books were available, then yes, it would have the potential to split the market. But with the push to digital, people won't have to think much about the rules, as they will be integrated into the mechanics done under the hood by the software. OT: I may be cynical, but I'm guessing that...

D&D 5E (2024) What would change for you if Wizards started calling it 6E?

Nothing. As a matter of fact, I would be in favor of an edition designation. Ever flowing/changing updates to 5E will only lead to confusion in the long run. "So, are we playing by the 1/1/24 updated rules, the 6/12/25 updated rules, or the 9/27/26 updated rules?"...

D&D General Houserules - Do You Collaborate or Dictate?

I don't have many house rules, but I do dictate. Although if someone objects to a rule, I'll listen to them.

Paizo News: PaizoCon Online Wrap Up

I hope Pathbuilder integrates all of these changes into the character builder. I really don't want to pay PF Nexus prices.

    The Future of Paramount+

The biggest issue that I have with Paramount+ is that they have a small group of good shows, and the rest is junk. I've gotten into the habit of subscribing to watch the few shows I like, and unsubscribing after I've completed the current season.

How did you convince your group to try something different?

The easiest way to get those who are reluctant to try a new system is to present the new system as a "one shot".

D&D General How many Short Rests do you routinely take?

I can't give a definitive answer because our short rest depend on the situation and our need. For example, even if we are low on hp, and need a short rest, we won't take it if there is a high risk of a random encounter.
