    3.5 Rules, 1E Feel

I would say part of it has to do with races, classes, prestige classes, and multiclassing: 1) Encourage players to run the four core classes with possible branching out to paladin and ranger. No 3.5 bards, no barbarians, no sorcerers, and with a couple of exceptions I think the druid would have...

    Haunted Tavern

PCs could be briefly possessed by spirits and compelled to do things. Maybe one PC starts a game of darts and is convinced the other PCs are dartboards.

Feb '09: What are you reading?

I'm reading Lankhmar Book 1: Swords and Deviltry. As is usual with fantasy, I'm struggling to get into the right frame of mind. I do much better at "jumping right in" when it's sci fi. I'm listening to Hyperion by Dan Simmons. Been a long, long time since I read it, and as usual the...

    Digital Telivision Conversion: Ready Yet?

I'm ready. I am one of those people who does not have cable/satellite or a newer TV. But I did get one of those converter boxes and it's working fine at bringing in the "air digital" channels. One challenge was arranging my VCR/DVD recorder so it could record from the converter box...

    Why No Lost?

I enjoyed the premiere and am eager to see how it all plays out.

So, has everyone pretty much given up on Smallville?

I thought last night's episode was quite good - I liked that the point was made that Clark can't always simply "win" each conflict by beating up the bad guy. And because that's the case, he becomes less alien and more human, and I found that appealing.

So, has everyone pretty much given up on Smallville?

I personally don't care a bit about "Superman". I like this version of Clark and his journey. Sometimes I wish there was more action/adventure but I do like the soap-opera lovey-dovey stuff, too, for some reason. :)

    New Year's Resolutions for 2009?

I'm doing great on the exercise part of my resolution (22 days in a row so far!). I'm doing so-so with my diet resolution. I'm doing poorly with my D&D-related resolution (I'm having trouble coming up with stuff for my current campaign and that's making me want to quit instead of try harder)...

So, has everyone pretty much given up on Smallville?

The first three seasons were so great, and since then, yes, the quality has not been as good for some reason. There have been a number of good episodes in each season but no really great seasons since then. I was keenly feeling the absence of Lex and Lana this season - I know a lot of people...

Recommend me some games for the Xbox 360...

Oblivion for sure. It's coming up on 3 years and I still play the heck out of it.

    Iterative Attacks

Looks good to me. My DM allowed me to basically double my damage but only do one attack per round - my experience in that campaign was that I was hitting about 1-2 out of every 4 attacks. He also let me develop some special maneuvers I could do in lieu of more damage (including knocking my...

Started in '79 at age 11. I turned 40 just recently. So a little under 30 years.

i could be wrong - enworld bday?

I don't know about EN World as EN World, but if you include Eric Noah's Unofficial D&D Third Edition News as part of the whole history, let's see ... I don't have an exact day but it started in August 1999 ... so that means the community's 10th anniversary is coming up this summer!

teleported PCs to random dungeon - where would you put 'em?

What I have to sort out is ... a) why does the surface race need slaves, and b) how do escaped slaves survive in the tunnels (and has something changed recently that threatens their survival - and that the PCs could help them with). I think the surface probably has a very sparse atmosphere; and...

    New Year's Resolutions for 2009?

Yes - I know I can do it. Two years ago at this time I set the same resolution (for Jan and Feb only, remember) and I did it. Each day I either walked 30 min or I did an exercise routine in my home I call "triple threat" (3x25 pushups, 3x12 presses with a pair of 20lb dumbells, and 3x12 curls...

    New Year's Resolutions for 2009?

So far mine are very similar to last year's. What I typically do is make resolutions not for the whole year, but just for January and February. Those are tough diet/exercise months for me. If I can get through those, the rest of the months usually take care of themselves pretty well. So, for...
