    [June] What's got you listening?

I used to listen to podcasts from National Geographic, NPR and Scientific American. But that was before I started listening to audiobooks. Now that's 90% of what I listen to, the other 10% being purchased music. I buy about 1 song a year these days. I don't ever listen to the radio any more and...

    [June] What are you watching?

Catching up on Warehouse 13. Hulu has the episodes locked so you can't see them until a month after air, so I just caught something from the end of April. Similar deal with Psych. Kara and I greatly enjoyed Arrested Development season 4 and I suspect I will rewatch it soon. Futurama...

    [June] What are you reading?

Print: just finished up Methland (depressing!), in the middle of Cornwell's Saxon series. ebook: still making my way through Return of the King - only now and then when I'm stuck in line somewhere without a book. audiobook: about halfway through Anathem. Things make a lot more sense the second...

Comic Books: What are you reading?

I'm having a super hard time answering that question for some reason. I guess I like a plot with a twist, a cool concept, I think I like science fictiony backstories maybe more than magical/supernatural.

Comic Books: What are you reading?

Oh, I did read Watchmen to prepare for the movie. Thought that was pretty good.

Comic Books: What are you reading?

Never having been a comic book reader, I don't think I'd even know where to begin...

    [May] What are you watching?

Movies: Saw Iron Man 3 and Star Trek in theaters. I think only Man of Steel is left for this summer, everything else can wait for rental. TV: we don't watch live TV, so we get our stuff from three sources: Netflix, Hulu Plus, and purchases from iTunes. I've been watching Big Bang Theory...

    Do You Read This News?

I read today's EN World news & D&D news. I feel like this is the only place at EN World where you can sustain some kind of narrative of whatever the scope of EN World is to be. On the other hand, each day's worth of news does sort of lose value the moment the next day arrives. So I can see the...

    [May] What are you reading?

Current audiobook: Anathem by Neal Stephenson. I had read it a couple of years ago, and am finding listening to the audiobook to be a very nice revisit.

Star Trek Into Darkness - Spoiler Free

Ok, and am I the only one who was VERY distracted by what looked like a beefy guy in a dress on the bridge during much of the battle action??

Star Trek Into Darkness - Spoiler Free

My spoiler-free mini-review: 3 out of 4 stars, a very good movie. As before I felt it was just a tad light-weight compared to what I would have preferred; I continue to not be dazzled by Quinto's Spock but am happy with all other performances (Cumberbatch was maybe just a smidge too hammy at...

    [May] What are you reading?

I'm juggling another book now ... Methland. Ugh, depressing. Very well written. Makes me sad and sick, and reminds me why I tend to gravitate toward fantasy and science fiction. Who needs real life??

Star Trek Into Darkness - Spoiler Free

Eep, I accidentally stumbled on a spoiler somewhere ... I'm trying not to let it bum me out! Maybe it will be cooler than it sounds. In any case, ready to see the gang again. I'm hearing from reviews that the acting is very solid.

Star Trek Into Darkness - Spoiler Free

I figure that while the size/shape of the crew (number of cast members) was good for TV where you can devote time to the second string, it's too many for feature films and so Sulu, Chekhov, Scotty will not get much screen time. This, I think, will be Kirk and Spock's real "bonding" film. And...
