D&D 3.x What are your current 3.5 House Rules?

Whew, quite impressive to see so many detailed house rules. :) There are only minor changes in two of three groups I'm playing. The third one has seen major changes to the spell system. - All spells are point-based. The higher a spell level, the more points are needed to cast it. The number...

Detect Magic vs. Greater Wild Shape: Rules backup needed...

Yep, that was our approach to the problem. But a supernatural ability is sometimes related to a spell (as wildshape to Polymorph), sometimes not (like DR, a dragon's breath, a cleric's aura,...). Hm, perhaps it is the easiest way to check if a Su-ability duplicates a spell effect. If it does...

Detect Magic vs. Greater Wild Shape: Rules backup needed...

Hi, I've read the Doppelganger thread and somewhere was mentioned that Detect Magic would detect active supernatural abilities as Wild Shape and Greater Wild Shape. Last session the DM and I went through the books but we couldn't find a clear ruling. Did we get different 3.5 books here in...

(humor) The Most Broken Spell Competition

Plus some other spells from Faerûn. Most of them are described in Magic of Faerûn (a book that our DM fears most...but he was the one who bought it first :D ). A few examples: Holy Star: Cleric 7. The spell has three abilities, each can be activated as a free action. +10 cover bonus or spell...

(humor) The Most Broken Spell Competition

There were some spells in good ol' AD&D times I remember to be funny (perhaps broken too)... Nap: Tome of Magic (?), level 2. Get all benefits of an eight hour sleep in just one hour. Wizards out of spells? Use Nap. Ranger wounded, out of spells? Nap...Need to be prepared for an unexpected...

[FR] City question. isoChron, Orm and Silver Surfer: STAY OUT!

Hi, a part of my next adventure will take place in Chult, Faerûn, in the city of Mezro. The city reappeared when the rulers removed the magic that sealed the city from unwanted views. Now I'm searching for a city map or a detailed description. Thanks for help, the Dark Dragon.

(Way OT) How bad is the heat wave in Europe?

BTW, is this stupid diving rule still existing (Pressure damage when diving deeper than 50 ft.)? Man, in that case I'd have lots of hp...[/end hijacking this thread]

(Way OT) How bad is the heat wave in Europe?

The heat wave in germany is over. At least here in Münster it ended without thunderstorms, the temperatures went down to 25 °C, a moderate wind blows from western directions and some fine-weather clouds in a blue sky. Oh, and a few drops of water have reached the ground yesterday evening...

    Ranger Feats

;) Hehe, normally, a kelvezu hunts a player character, not vice versa. And he's a quite nasty hunter, although sometimes he plays with his prey. Hm, perhaps your DM won't allow wounding weapons. See http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59909 Back to topic: Quick Draw is...

(Way OT) How bad is the heat wave in Europe?

Again, it's a sunny day. But a moderate wind has come up and lowers the temperature a bit (to approx. 30 °C). Even in the office you can do some work (of course, you CAN do...;)). The night was like in the tropics, the warm air so thick that it could be cut with a knife. No wind at all, the...

(Way OT) How bad is the heat wave in Europe?

Meteorologists predict that tomorrow will be the last hot day of the heat wave in western Europe with temperatures above 35 °C. Thunderstorms in the evening in southern and western Germany. But sunny weather is expected again for the next week with temperatures around 25 to 30 °C. Now, after...

(Way OT) How bad is the heat wave in Europe?

It's 5.20 pm (MEST), I've checked the temperature in three labs in the institute of geosciences at Münster. Definately the coolest place is the room of the plasma mass spectrometer with 24°C. The room has a separate AC, but the temperature shouldn't rise any further there, because the machine's...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Wounding blade broken?

Well, I think a wounding weapon is a quite nice thing. But so is a composite bow with icy burst in the hands of a level 5 deepwood sniper. Or a holy great sword avenger wielded by a paladin... A wounding sword is fine in the hands of low-STR PCs (e.g. rogues) with weak melee combat abilities...

D&D 3.x [3.5] New to the druiding world

IIRC, Awaken no longer works on the druid's animal companion, because it is considered a magical beast. This negates Animal Growth and Speak with Animals on the companion as well  . Stupid ruling, worth to be house-ruled, IMHO.

D&D 3.x [3.5] New to the druiding world

Natural Spell is an absolute must have at level 6. If you rely on summoned creatures, take Spell Focus and Augment Summoning (gives "only" a +4 on STR for summoned creatures). Improved Initiative is always a good choice. If you want to play a melee druid, go for Improved Natural Attack...

Combo question: Impr. Grab, Pounce & Impr. Overrun...

Hi all, I've created the animal companion for my level 16 druid using 3.5 rules. It's a tiger (12 HD) with the following feats: Alertness, 2x Improved Natural Attack (claw & bite), Power Attack, Multiattack (special due to effective druid level 10), and Improved Overrun. He has the pounce and...
