    D&D 5E (2014) Damage thread

I think that you might have shortchanged Rogues a little. I've found that sneak attack is much more common than 3/4 of the attacks that rogues make. A ranged rogue will also have advantage much more often and a melee rogue will often dual-wield. The dual-wielding means that sneak attack damage...

Spelljammer The Forgotten Realms eats Spelljammer before it even finishes digesting Radiant Citadel!

The introductory Spelljammer adventures are set in FR I believe. I have a feeling that the intent is to have spelljammer AL modules that are compatible with the Forgotten Realms Adventurer's League campaign but that leave Realmspace. Later campaigns will introduce discovery of another setting as...

D&D General Poll: As a player, I am always justified in pursuing every advantage I find, no matter what.

Did you dislike the system because it was balanced, or was the problem that it was just too limited compared to what magic used to be able to do in other editions? Would you have been fine with it if spellcasting was as good as in earlier editions even if that meant boosting non-casters up to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Damage thread

We know, but for those of us with an interest in these things, seeing such comparison analyses are interesting and informative. Since situations can favour different characters, white-room analysis is the only fair method unless there is specific information known about the particular situation...

    D&D 5E (2014) Who Are the Thri-Kreen?

I definitely remember the "Empire of the Celestial Mantis" or similar being mentioned as one of the most ancient spelljamming peoples in one of the novels.

    D&D 5E (2014) [+] Questions for zero character death players and DMs…

Which brings up the point that "No character death unless agreed" generally is referring to actual loss of the character. If the party have the resources for a revivify or similar available, "no death" DMs are often more willing to let the character kark it.

D&D 5E (2014) [Radiant Citadel] A chart of parallel Earth cultures and motifs across the D&D Multiverse

There are canonical persons of colour in Eberron, just not cultures that map onto ethnographic types. That may also hold more or less true of Dragonlance.

Spelljammer Dark Sun confirmed? Or, the mysterious case of the dissappearing Spelljammer article...

"PCs are special" is one of the tenets of Eberron, and casters are no exception. Most people can learn to cast a spell eventually, but often only one or two, and as rituals. Actually having spells slots that renew every day and can cast different spells from is very much a PC, and a few others...

Spelljammer Dark Sun confirmed? Or, the mysterious case of the dissappearing Spelljammer article...

I am aware. It just happens to be that way in the lore of the setting that we are talking about.

    D&D 5E (2014) [+] Questions for zero character death players and DMs…

Also: Some people play DnD because they like the mechanical system and want to "beat" challenges in it. They do not need character death for the challenges to work.

Because the principles behind Arcane magic are fairly well known scientifically, and predictable. The principles behind Divine magic (if indeed there are any) are not.

    D&D 5E (2014) Create a 5e Psion

That is why I was very careful to keep my telekinesis example to movement of matter. Transformation of matter, imbuing of matter with independent sentience, and creation of magical force are all fairly overtly magical effects and not telekinetic ones.

Spelljammer Dark Sun confirmed? Or, the mysterious case of the dissappearing Spelljammer article...

You just did: some of the deities in Eberron are not specified as polytheistic "gods". Because it sounds about right, while being conceptually completely incorrect.

    D&D 5E (2014) Create a 5e Psion

Example (This was designed for a slightly different concept, so there may be some adjustment needed.) Telekinesis discipline Spells gained: 0: Mage hand, Blade Ward. 1: Catapult, Feather Fall. 2: Levitate, Maximilian’s Earthen Grasp. 3: Fly, Conjure Barrage. 4: Resilient sphere, Freedom of...

Spelljammer Dark Sun confirmed? Or, the mysterious case of the dissappearing Spelljammer article...

There are philosophies, spirits, or supernatural forces suggested as potential deities for cleric right there in the PHB. Xanathar's clarified this, but it has always been a possibility in 5e.

D&D 5E (2014) Which characters are the DPR (damage per round) leaders at your table(s)?

Haste spell and a bonus action attack (GWM crit, PM buttstroke etc) would take it to 10 I think.

D&D General What is a Ranger? A miserable pile of secrets! (+)

I have already given my thoughts on the Ranger. As the quote that my post is a response to says, that post was about an "animal companion class" side project.

D&D General What is a Ranger? A miserable pile of secrets! (+)

I would remove the "animal" flavour of the class and make it a purely mechanical companion class. Then you would have subclasses where the flavour resides, whether that is companion animal, artificial construct, ancestral or Nature spirit, animated dead, faithful mount, extradimensional monster...
