Given that they are targeting Minecraft players, "children's show" is spot on. They are clearly going after a much younger demographic.

I was thinking in broader terms about mixing and tracking all of the rule changes between the two versions, not just the species. I should have specified that in my OP.

Yes, but from a practical standpoint, no DM (who doesn't want a headache) is going to mix and match the different versions depending on player preference.

Sure, it's possible to get burned out, even if you don't have infinite time and money. But that's a hard question to answer because everyone has a different threshold. But aside from quantity of play, making changes to the rules that people don't like could be a motivating factor, but then...

From a business perspective, you only need a new edition when sales start to stagnate or drop off. (for whatever reason)

I think they should have at least kept the legacy half elf and half orc.

Just finished "Fall of Hyperion", and was excited to get to the 3rd book "Endymion". But then I read a number of reviews that claimed that it was just one long chase scene, and the characters were not well developed.

To me, D&D will always be the traditional Medieval/Renaissance fantasy. However, I can can understand why content creators like the idea of an "everything and the kitchen sink" world - simply because it gives them a much larger canvas to work with.

I think it's a solid concept, but 32nd century is just too far.

There are many free "texture packs" available that increase the resolution of the game. Some are (close to) photo realistic.

Most Minecraft DLCs are fairly inexpensive $3-$7. I wonder how much this one will be.

One thing it doesn't appear to have is a fog of war to cover things the players shouldn't be able to see.
