    WoD renaming, White Wolf returns

My royalty checks are not straw. I don't think you really understand how IP works.

    Worlds of Design: Battle Maneuvers

Actually, the Japanese were on the verge of giving in before the bombs dropped; they were still holding out hope that the USSR would act as a intermediary for terms. Operation Chokehold (the sea/air blockade of the Home Islands) was far more effective than the Americans understood at the time...

    Worlds of Design: Battle Maneuvers

So utterly untrue. At least IME.

    Worlds of Design: Battle Maneuvers

Speaking from experience, the fact that you are facing fanatics who just won't quit is not all that impressive, or even a recognizable factor until after the fact. What matters is how well they fight compared to how well you fight. If you want a historical example, there's none better than the...

    WoD renaming, White Wolf returns

Odd how you keep using that phrase. People owning property isn't usually considered evil, or oppressive. Nor is making money off IPs usually viewed as evil, as I can personally attest.

VTT group just played a session in person...should have done a one‑shot of another system or played board games

Ah, no, I know where they live, and the sound of their voices. You are aware that online gaming uses audio, right?

    Worlds of Design: Battle Maneuvers

Except none of those involved the death of a national leader. Or involved the Hollywood image of a trained assassin. Yamamoto was killed by regular aviators, chosen because their squadron was equipped with P-38s. Mossad uses nerds and untrained locals, for the most part. In the 70s they did...

    Worlds of Design: Battle Maneuvers

There's a difference between hired/outside assassins, and internal power plays. Hitler, for example, survived a dozen+ assassination attempts, but all were internal matters, not external. There are very few examples of a national leader being killed by an assassin hired or sent by outside...

I wasn't replying to you, to be clear, but to aramis erak. As I said before, my advice is write your own material.

Truth. Even in less modern times this held true.

In 1980, I discovered Rolemaster. You young guys just don't appreciate good systems. ;)

Do you buy new versions of TTRPG games when you haven't had time to play the older version sitting on your shelf?

Normally, I would say no, but recently that became untrue. I have always wanted to the use the Morrow Project system (I've used the core setting concept several times), but never had the right group. Recently I discovered that Roll20 has a wonderful PC sheet for MP 4e, and so it is in the...

    WoD renaming, White Wolf returns

Truth. A lot of the games of the 70s are still soldiering on. WW isn't likely to recapture the position it achieved in the 90s, but the system has good bones, and the setting still has fans.

    Aging and Gaming

For you, that's true. I find online/electronic socializing superior to in-person, with a couple exceptions. The best part, for me, is the elimination of third parties, such as intrusive pets or feral offspring. Or viruses borne by said feral offspring. Plus, gamers can play while sick.

How Will The New Tariffs Affect TTRPG Prices?

To be honest, the ruling really changed nothing.

How Will The New Tariffs Affect TTRPG Prices?

Not long. The USSC could issue a temporary restoration until the case gets heard, as they did with the Venezuelan deportations. Given the composition of the USSC, the outcome is fairly certain, and just in case, the Senate is considering action that would eliminate the issue entirely by allowing...

How Will The New Tariffs Affect TTRPG Prices?

Its already being appealed. Ultimately the USSC will decide.

    Aging and Gaming

Online gaming has been the best thing for my hobby since I started in 1979. I was tired of the hassle of trying to assemble and maintain a like-minded group of gamers week after week, years after year, lugging my stuff to the game itself (I live in the country, and also I am not interested in...

Yeah, the original poll was too generic.

    Worlds of Design: Battle Maneuvers

Sounds like a lot of trinkets in play, plus an obliging GM. Of course, I quit D&D back in the early 80s. The failing of most D&D settings is that they hack a real world setting, but they make scant allowance for the game mechanics. No one would waste a decade and vast sums of money to built a...
