You guys are will hung up on the +1 thing. I would hope any DM would say something like "Magical sword". I was just short handing +1 as to what the DM would likely give plus what the players might expect at low levels.

I like the named sword but it's so hard to make something like that work in a D&D type game because there is always another and better magic sword around the corner. I'd probably allow the Paly to transfer the magic from a found sword to his Named Blade or something.

Not to mention SD is really a dungeon crawler. Even in D&D how often does mounted combat come up? It’s just a nice extra for the Paly that will rarely see use (mostly in random overland travel fights)

I like her take on it. It’s like her Ranger. It’s not bog standard D&D converted to SD. It’s based on actual lore or the defining story character they are meant to represent. Like modern D&D Ranger is based more on WoW than Aragorn.
