D&D 5E (2014) Life Cleric Multiclass armor prof

The root of the argument here seems to be that the term "starting proficiencies" is not defined anywhere, so it is impossible to know what it means, and we can argue forever and never reach a conclusion. Does anyone disagree with that? (My interpretation is that the "starting proficiencies" are...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dungeon Master's Guild: The Long Term

What about putting your freebies in the standard places and use them to promote your products for sale on the DMGuild? Maybe you can't expect to do business exclusively on DMGuild, but if you can use the Forgotten Realms to add value to some of your products they might sell better on the Guild...

    D&D 5E (2014) Have you bought any (non DM's Guild] 3rd party 5E products?

I've bought 5th Edition Foes and have backed Tome of Beasts and I'm waiting eagerly for that one. You can never have too many monsters, and 5th Ed Foes has been very useful so far. I hope Wizards will also get on the bandwagon and release a Monster Manual 2 or similar product soon!

D&D 5E (2014) Deal Breakers - Or woah, that is just too much

It's called "advice" for a reason, because there's not really meant to be a "global understanding" of the rules, it's only meant to help DMs who can't figure out how to rule on a particular issue by themselfes. This is a game of "rulings, not rules".

    D&D 5E (2014) How would you incapacitate/knock-out a skeleton?

You could knock off the legs so that it can't move. Then you can reattach the legs afterwards if it bonds with its owner again.

D&D 5E (2014) Polymorph at higher levels - no beasts left?

It also has a decent INT score, so it's a lot more likely than a T-Rex to remember to not eat the rest of the party.

    D&D 5E (2014) GRAPPLING, FEAT AND DEX

There's a reason wrestling and judo are both separated into weight classes for competitions; strength is the main factor, skill and speed mainly come into play when finding the best fighter among competitors with similar strenght.

CURSE OF STRAHD: Here's The Official Announcement & Cover Image!

Barovia doesn't really seem like the kind of place that would change much in just a hundred years anyway. There is little in the way of outside influences and Strahd remains in charge, so there is no reason why anything would be significantly different. The innkeeper may be the great grandson...

[UPDATED AGAIN!] CURSE OF STRAHD Will Be Available March 15th

Come to think of it, having giants perform theatre would be an interesting idea. It would make it a lot easier for the people on the rear benches to see what is going on at the stage.

CURSE OF STRAHD: Here's The Official Announcement & Cover Image!

It could be that the exact location of Barovia is left ambiguous by the module. Traditionalists will place it in Ravenloft, other DMs will put it somewhere in their homebrew world, while the Adventurer's League will place it in a quite corner near the Moonsea, etc.

D&D 5E (2014) Is magic resistance (namely advantage to saves versus magic) always broken?

It's definitely not broken. Gnomes are a PC race and they have magic recistance for INT, WIS and CHA saves, and those are the most important ones since spells that completely shut you down tend to target those saves. It's a strong ability though, so it should come at either a high price or be a...

What's a good plot reason to grant the players psionic powers?

Hearing one pun too many shatters a character's mind. He goes completely insane, but also unlocks hidden powers. :p

What's a good plot reason to grant the players psionic powers?

Let the characters find an old tome, such as the Necronomicon, that reveals horrible truths about the universe. These revelations take their toll on the characters sanity, but now that they understand the true nature of existence they also discover ways to mentally maninpulate it.

    D&D 5E (2014) Are solo monsters weaker in 5e?

A 6th level fighter will typically have 20 STR and proficiency in athletics, for a total of +8 to "grapple checks", while the troll has 18 STR and no proficiency, so it only has +4. That means the fighter has a 66% chance to win a grapple contest. But he has extra attack so he can try twice...

    D&D 5E (2014) Are solo monsters weaker in 5e?

Controlled mounts still have their own actions, they just take them on the riders turn and have a limited set of actions to pick from. So the tarrasque would only have one opportunity to to take a legendary action. (unless the DM rules there's a family of badgers around that are also taking...

The Day Has Come! It's An OGL! And A Store To Buy & Sell D&D 5E Products!

That's a direct contradiction of this bit from the DMGuild FAQ: Is the FAQ wrong, or is it another case of Mearls not knowing his own rules?
