    D&D 5E (2014) is stealth an action?

Nobody has been able to point out any rule that says you are detected unless you take the hide action, that is merely an assumption people are making. They have tried to support this assumption with absurd examples of characters "vanishing while in plain sight", and I've countered by an equally...

    D&D 5E (2014) is stealth an action?

What if that someone is invisible and sitting on a stone bench in the corner quietly reading a letter laying on the table in front of them? They are not making any attempt to hide, they are sitting right in the open and just happen to be naturally invisible. But someone else in the room would...

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like RAVENLOFT

The first rule of Ravenloft is that you don't leave Ravenloft. The second rule of Ravenloft is that Evil reigns and cannot be defeated. The third rule of Ravenloft is that you're totally going to smack down the big bad and leave anyway! Horror is hard to run well in D&D due to the default genre...

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock and Repelling Blast

I think that will work well in game and give dispel magic a bit more utility, at a high cost since the caster not only commits a 3rd level slot but also his action. But let's look at the rules text for dispel magic: "Choose one creature, object, or magical effect within range. Any spell of 3rd...

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock and Repelling Blast

The rules are not very restrictive about what you can choose as a trigger, so it sounds like it should be possible to do readied actions like "if he launches an eldritch blast, then I shoot him" to interrupt after the first EB of a multi blast, or "if he lifts his sword, I shoot him" to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock and Repelling Blast

Is this still going on even after Crawfords clarification? Endless walls of text arguing a point that has been proven wrong?

D&D 5E (2014) Limiting use of cantrips - what are the consequences?

If you want a low-magic feel I don't think limiting how often cantrips can be cast will help much. Limiting the number of casters in the party and among NPCs will have much greater impact. Adding bookkeeping for cantrip use will just make magic feel more mechanical rather than mystical.

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock and Repelling Blast

You're forgetting AC, the warlock has to actually hit to push. Kiting in all it's forms can be a very effective if cheesy tactic if the entire party is doing it so that enemies have nobody to attack. If your entire group has min-maxed around massive Eldritch Blast pushing or other forms of...

D&D 5E (2014) Do most striker builds weaken a party?

That still depends. If the 20 AC guy keeps running out of hit dice while the 18 AC guy never spends any of his, that is not optimal use of resources and potentially a problem for the party if it ends up shortening their effective adventuring day.

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock and Repelling Blast

What is this I don't even... Look at the description for the instantaneous Fireball spell "A bright streak flashes from your pointing finger to a point you choose within range and then blossoms with a low roar into an explosion of flame" That's two discrete events happening one after the other...

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock and Repelling Blast

I know I said I would bow out but I have to address this. Please do not make strawman arguments. Nobody at all is saying that Eldritch Blast etc lasts for multiple rounds. It is an instantaneous spell, it only lasts for the action used to cast it. What can you do between the beams? Nothing, you...

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock and Repelling Blast

I can see that. :D I will leave the rest of this "discussion" to you as it sounds you have some amount of experience with it. I doubt you can convince these people that the "spell attacks are simultaneous" rule exists only in their head, but hopefully the idea won't spread to anyone else reading...

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock and Repelling Blast

Where do the rules say that? I'm not rules laywering here, I honestly don't see any reason to handle spell attacks different from weapon attacks unless the rules say so, and as far as I can see they don't do that anywhere. I assume that if spell attacks were meant to be handled differently than...

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock and Repelling Blast

These are the rules for making an attack: "Whether you’re striking with a melee weapon, firing a weapon at range, or making an attack roll as part of a spell, an attack has a simple structure. 1.Choose a target. Pick a target within your attack’s range: a creature, an object, or a...

Poor reviews, both from the media and users: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/sword-coast-legends Only slightly more than 70K people own the game: http://steamspy.com/app/325600 Compare that to the 450K who have Baldur's Gate Enhanceed Edition and the nearly 600K who own Pillars of Eternity...

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock and Repelling Blast

I thought everyone knew by now that Mike Mearls doesn't consult the rulebook before answering on twitter. ;) He's just plain wrong in this case, that's just not what the rules say.

    D&D 5E (2014) Vicious Mockery utility

Vicious Mockery is pretty good at lower levels, but at higher level monsters do their damage by having many attacks rather than one single attack doing a ton of damage, so imposing disadvantage on just one attack isn't that big of a deal. And Vicious Mockery's d4 damage dice just becomes more...

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock and Repelling Blast

No, you don't declare the targets first. You have to follow the rules for "making an attack" on page 193-194 in the PHB, and those rules require you to pick the target when you make the attack, not when you begin to cast a spell. There is no support in the rules for declaring the target of the...

D&D 5E (2014) Are the AP's basically just a repeat of the previous complaints about FR? Why we need more short term adventures.

Is this thread basically just a repeat of Corpsetaker's previous complaints about WotC's publishing strategy for 5E?
