This nerd is of Japanese ethnicity, and growing up, was exposed to a lot of Japanese culture including anime (Mazinger Z) and tokusatsu (Kamen Rider V3). I've always been into it. As for others… there are probably many reasons, many listed above. Nerds… get into things.

I think Wizards of the Coast Japan took over in 2022 from Hobby Japan and made a new effort in pushing the brand. There was some mention last year in one of their presentations and a commercial was shown.

Good question. Unfortunately, I don't read as much manga as I watch anime, so am not that familiar with too many artists. The manga artists I do like tend to do less sword and sorcery work and more superhero or sci-fi work. Also, I lean more toward gag manga if it isn't superhero/sci-fi. Though...

Pretty cool. Looks like they are having some kind of in-person trial of D&D in Japan (as a result of the movie, but not a direct tie-in). Participating in the trial can get you some goods featuring these characters.
