D&D 5E (2024) Should 2014 Half Elves and Half Orcs be added to the 2025 SRD?

No, that are not part of the new PHB so should not be part of the SRD for the new PHB. There are in the old SRD for anyone that wants to incorporate them in to a third party product.

    D&D General Neolithic D&D

The medievalism of D&D is mostly vibes. Yes, there is plate armour and complex hilted swords and the like but there is nothing about AC 18 that is specifically medieval or 1d8 piercing for that matter. Change or reskin the equipment list and probably the narrative around many of the tools and...

WotC New WotC President Is World of Warcraft's John Hight

They might but that would need marketing to non-English speakers, which I do not believe WoTC has done much of. One issue that D&D (and ttrpgs in general) is that they are pretty time consuming in an age where social media is a huge time sink.

WotC New WotC President Is World of Warcraft's John Hight

This was one of the things that WoTC clearly lacked back in the Gleemax era. I do not know if the ttrpg market has reached saturation but it must be close. If they want to grow this is an obvious growth path but they need experienced management to make it successful. Is this the guy for the job...

WotC New WotC President Is World of Warcraft's John Hight

I am slightly optimistic with this appointment. It probably means that the focus now on growth in WoTC is on the video game are with a probably secondary axis on video and movies. This is a basically sensible approach and takes the pressure from the ttrpg to grow at unrealistic rates.

D&D General On Early D&D and Problematic Faves: How to Grapple with the Sins of the Past

Actually! there is another point that I had forgot when I was replying to this, I think if people understood rhetoric, how debates should address a premise and the various rhetorical devices that can be employed to obfuscate the point, politicians and many journalists and all forms of...

D&D 5E (2024) What is your oppinion of 5.24 so far?

I have not closely checked, particularly with respect to daily xp levels but in so far as I have checked encounters the ones I have sampled have all been medium to hard.

D&D 5E (2024) What is your oppinion of 5.24 so far?

I think that this would work in the current or coming framework. Just need to advice it, and design adventures around it.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: "New Wizard"

I have never met a wizard player who does that? I think as a DM I would like a wizard to do that occasionally at least, though perhaps not all the time.

D&D General On Early D&D and Problematic Faves: How to Grapple with the Sins of the Past

Yes, which is why I think that it should be reader/viewer/crowd funded, paid for rather than advertiser/rich person influencer paid for. How to get from here to there I have no idea. I also believe that the 24 hour news cycle is bad, especially when advertiser funded. It overhypes everything to...

D&D General On Early D&D and Problematic Faves: How to Grapple with the Sins of the Past

I am not really talking about forums, not just forums but it seems to me that many people still go with the impression a speaker makes rather than the substance of what was said. For instance, the famous Nixon- Kennedy debate where most people that listened to the debate on the radio believed...

D&D General On Early D&D and Problematic Faves: How to Grapple with the Sins of the Past

This will help, but many people seem to have forgotten or perhaps never learned to have an proper argument where the premises are properly engaged with. Another thing is we the people, need to figure out how to pay for good quality journalism. Where an interviewer is properly briefed and knows...

D&D General On Early D&D and Problematic Faves: How to Grapple with the Sins of the Past

This is better phrased than I would have managed it but essentially I agree. I am also old but the way I look at it, If D&D enables me to play the glib and witty faceman (something I cannot do in real life), why should it stop a woman from being the superstrong and tough barbarian axe woman?

D&D General On Early D&D and Problematic Faves: How to Grapple with the Sins of the Past

Not to mention that it is fantasy and people should not be bound by reality in their fantasies. If someone wants to be a superstrong woman warrior, then why not?

D&D General On Early D&D and Problematic Faves: How to Grapple with the Sins of the Past

I am well aware, and it was bad science even then, but it fitted in nicely with dualistic views of humanity derived from class, race, or the elect and reprobate.

D&D General On Early D&D and Problematic Faves: How to Grapple with the Sins of the Past

I may have been unfair but "Men Like Gods" was an unsettling read from the other side of the twentieth century, very eugenicist in its point of view.

Is there any genre or theme that the TTRPG medium does not work for?

With the right group no, but in my experience most people I have played with are casual player and not interested in that kind of commitment.
