Explore the Worlds of 2000 AD With New JUDGE DREDD & THE WORLDS OF 2000 AD Roleplaying Game!

Holy crap! This is awesome. Will you be taking submissions or running everything in-house?

D&D 5E (2014) How to deal with Metagaming as a player?

    That's a 20-page doozy right there.

D&D 5E (2014) Separating challenge and complexity in monster design

Hmm. On the subject of monster complexity, I do not find myself missing the (admittedly wide variety of) 4E monster design vectors, because the cost of those complexities is combat that lasts long enough for them to matter in the action economy. 5E combat is snappier than its predecessors, and I...

    D&D 5E (2014) What's in YOUR Multiverse?

My multiverse...doesn't really exist. I play self-contained campaigns that have no regard for what has come before unless my players specifically ask for it. For me it's one of those questions I don't want answered. No "multiverse of infinite possibilities" should ever have a map, or any rules...

    D&D 5E (2014) Animated How to Play D&D 5e tutorial

Excellent and well-executed! I have watched the first half of the opening episode and enjoyed it immensely. Great work. I would echo some of your YouTube comments in that the commentary would benefit from a slightly slower delivery.

D&D 5E (2014) Arcane Trickster - What spells are good with Magical Ambush?

This is definitely becoming one of those rules that players have a hard time internalizing. I've had to remind my resident rogue twice in the last couple of sessions, and it pops up on here quite a lot as well.

    D&D 5E (2014) 10HP Bonus for Level 1 Characters. Thoughts?

I don't see as it would break anything but honestly, I find 1st-level PC's quite tough as it is, depending on party composition and player experience I guess. Max HP + Con, and a DM with a little sympathy towards the plight of first level dudes, has resulted in zero 1st-level casualties at our...

D&D 5E (2014) To Screen or not to Screen

I've always used a screen and I still do. I like to have open pages in front of me (either adventures or my own notes), as well as scribbled stuff, in-combat hit point totals, etc. etc., and the screen facilitates that. In addition, the screen is a convenient ledge on which to hand initiative...

D&D 5E (2014) When Fiends Attack: Are Balors, Pit Fiends and Ultraloths too weak?

I don't have much time for straight theory-crafting in this or any game where so many externalities -- terrain, mobility, strategy, varying skill level -- can affect the gameplay. Having said that, the Balor straight-up does not look like a CR19 monster. But, no previous edition of this game...

LOST CITADEL 5E RPG Coming From Green Ronin

Yes! As someone not really interested in new mechanics, I'm cool with this. :)

D&D 5E (2014) What do I tell players about my overly complex political world?

Start with the assumption that they don't care (which may or may not be true), and then attach their PC's to the background a little bit at a time. Princess to be saved? Maybe one of the PC's recognises the name...she visited their home town once, and seemed a kind sort. Chaffing under the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Modeling Uncertainty

It's all relative. They like being able to specialise. While a point or two might not make a difference, the "reader" PC with exceptional instincts will be trusted when there's disagreement.

    D&D 5E (2014) Modeling Uncertainty

I couldn't be more in agreement with this statement. Uncertainty is part of the fun. I don't know what's behind that door, but I love that the DM does know. I don't know why the princess lied to me, but I love that the DM has obviously set something up behind the scenes. I don't know what's over...

    D&D 5E (2014) Why Good Players Do Not 14.25.

It is impossible for a DM *not* to metagame. Metagaming is a *player* vice. Please invent another word for this thing you're describing!

Which official 5E adventures have you played through?

I DM'd Lost Mine, and will do so again I'm sure. Superb adventure. I'm currently DM'ing Princes and Out of the Abyss. I briefly played in a Tiamat campaign that subsequently ended, and am currently playing in a Storm King's Thunder campaign.

WotC's 2017 Convention Schedule Includes New Hascon, No GenCon

Yup, Bruce Cordell and (I think) Rodney Thompson came to Reading in 2007. There hasn't been a GenCon UK since 2008.

    D&D 5E (2014) Why Good Players Do Not 14.25.

Did you just accuse a *DM* of metagaming??! Truly, we are living in a post-sanity multiverse.

D&D 5E (2014) OotA Sloobludop: Looking for Advice

I couldn't see my PC's taking to the "fake sacrifice" plan, so to give them a stake in the fight, I made an actual sacrifice of one of the Society of Brilliance, whom the PC's had been asked to watch out for in their travels, and then in audience with the Archpriest, the party devised an ambush...

D&D 5E (2014) Why Forums Should Be Ignored By Game Developers

I think the sensible approach is to appreciate forums for what they are: echo chambers for those invested at a level way beyond the average consumer. I don't think that makes them useless, far from it, but their value depends somewhat on how much those uber-consumers contribute to the growth of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Why a New D&D Video Game Should Be 16bit/2D

I certainly would buy such a thing if it was a good game., but there needs to be a mainstream, AAA or near-AAA quality D&D game, for the brand to be taken seriously in that market IMO. I doubt Hasbro wants the buying public to associate D&D with a quaint pixel-graphic throwback.
