    D&D 5E (2014) Dungeon Master's Guild: The Long Term

More likely, the systems will improve.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Skills whats your opinion

You can learn new skills, as the poster above me pointed out. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with the ability mod/proficiency/expertise ladder.

Yup. That's always a solid first step in troubleshooting any problems.

DMs Guild Issues with DMs Guild

I had a lot of issues using Firefox when the site first launched (Cart not updating, that kind of thing). I just assumed they were the usual teething problems.

    D&D 5E (2014) Have you bought any (non DM's Guild] 3rd party 5E products?

I'm an En5ider patron, but other than that, no. And to be honest, I patronize En5ider mostly to support ENW, and secondarily for the actual material produced, although a lot of it is very good. I expect the situation to change as more adventure material filters onto both En5ider and the DMsG.

Having an NPC roll persuasion on YOU?

Sure, but that's me rolling against me. For some reason I'd never thought about inviting an NPC to make a roll against me (and presumably, not knowing his bonus to the roll).

D&D 5E (2014) Would you play or run a game if the party's members are not the protagonists?

I would both play and run something like this, as long as the PC's were given clear feedback on how their actions were affecting the larger world (like the Greyhawk example above).

DMs Guild How Many DMs Guild Products Have You Bought?

I'm only interested in adventure material, and not only isn't there much of that to speak of as yet (or at least, there wasn't a few days ago)., I just don't need it right now. My lack of interest in PC options, which DMsG has naturally been flooded with almost immediately, is part of the...

Having an NPC roll persuasion on YOU?

As in, electively allowing the dice to decide your reaction? I think that's quite a neat idea, especially since you can set your own DC. :)

D&D 5E (2014) Deal Breakers - Or woah, that is just too much

I don't have that many. Evil parties. PvP. Excessive house rules. Inappropriate behaviour. Anything but complete respect for other players and their PC's. I've also learned that what people *say* about their games is often far from what their games actually are, but this always seems to work in...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dirty Secrets?

Great thread! Welcome to the board, but OMG you're gonna get lynched by the various factions from the Fudging threads. :) I think the dirtiest secret I keep is the extreme stress that DM'ing sometimes causes me. When I run shoddy, badly-prepared sessions, it can put me in a bad mood for days on...

Why don't we throw a few clicks to the official website rather than copy-pasting here..?

I...don't know what that means. I just feel it's a little disrespectful to the content creators to swipe their output and re-post it here. Anyways, two posts on the subject is already too many!

    D&D 5E (2014) Dungeon tiles for minatures

3D-printing was always going to be a shoe-in for tabletop gaming, and this looks really good! I wish you luck.

D&D 5E (2014) Do you want your DM to fudge?

My long-term group knows full-well that I do it. No-one in, say, my most recent group has raised it as an issue, or asked me to roll in the open, despite a clear invitation to do so in session zero. Given how strongly you feel about it, I'm certain that any like-minded players in the group would...

D&D 5E (2014) Do you want your DM to fudge?

Okay, for the avoidance of all doubt: since I can't read my players' minds, I'm forced to assume that the way I run a game is beneficial to the group. They have many ways to make their discontent clear, if not. Vehement words, for example. :) Well, it's a great relief to me that I'm neither...

D&D 5E (2014) To fudge or not to fudge: that is the question

I would prefer the player declare that he's going to try to "hold back on the follow through" and look to me for resolution (which I would happily allow and encourage in this case). It's better drama, it showcases the action to the rest of the table, and it puts the decision where it belongs...

D&D 5E (2014) Do you want your DM to fudge?

If you, as a player, do not trust me, as your DM, to want everyone to have the best time possible, then you really should just find another DM. And no, I don't hold myself to the same standards of governance and accountability as the CIA. As we say in the UK: you must be having a laugh.
