D&D 5E (2014) So which adventures/campaigns have you played so far?

At 5E launch, without a current face-to-face group, I managed to persuade one of my irregular groups to team up for a weekly online game using just Skype (anything more complex would have scared them off). We were all surprised how well it worked, and enjoyed Lost Mine immensely. After that, I...

    D&D 5E (2014) How To Make a Good D&D Videogame

Really? You do the exact "opposite" of a multiplayer CRPG with active real-time DM? SCL feels like a v0.9 product to me (note: I haven't played it, only watched a few streams), but it has the potential to be something special. I'm quite happy to hold my money back and wait for a year to see...

    D&D 5E (2014) OotA: NPCs Fate (Spoilers)

One session in and one NPC down. I'll try to keep this updated as we go! Sildar: Killed by quaggoth guards after sequential critical fails while trying to impersonate a drow guard. Session 2: No fatalities. Topsy and turvy have left the group. Ront cheesed off that he's not in charge. Party...

    D&D 5E (2014) [Gaming Aids] Sound effects

It's something I'm growing into. Last year saw me running my first online game and with the right tools, mixing music and sound into the stream is so easy, it's almost criminal not to do it. It worked very well, so I'll probably introduce it to my tabletop as well. Bluetooth speaker controlled...

    D&D 5E (2014) Nostrodomus: Predict Five Things about D&D in 2016

    1. Ravenloft AP. 2. Grab-bag plane-hopping AP with a loose story arc and a ton of themed crunch. 3. Some kind of subscription service will emerge from the WotC brain trust. 4. Double-down on SCL. That's okay. With time and content, it'll get better. 5. My fifth prediction is more of same...

    D&D 5E (2014) Brand Vs RPG

In the Midlands we have starter sets in Waterstones, and the whole 5E catalogue in the local FLGS. I've finally been able to *stop* buying from Amazon and get it locally.

    D&D 5E (2014) Brand Vs RPG

Props for Dragon Slayer reference! As for the rest, I really have no idea what you're talking about. You're not getting settings and splats, and therefore the designers are just corporate mouth-pieces?!

    D&D 5E (2014) Brand Vs RPG

I don't really understand why the two things stand in opposition? The "brand" doesn't seem to me to be doing a whole lot more than it used to (yet). Books, board games, video games. In a year or two we'll have a movie. I honestly don't expect it to make much difference. Things will continue as...

    D&D 5E (2014) Weak 5e monsters

Simply put, I find the game as written to be pitched too easy. In a recent adventure, I dialled almost every encounter up one or two levels of lethality, and the standard 4-person party handled it just fine, and all that without a healer. The design guidelines simply can't handle every possible...

    D&D 5E (2014) BardTales- Woeful Table Tales + A Poll

I don't have any such experiences to hand, but lowkey13 you finally made a poll that I can get behind. :) Great stuff.

See DRAGON+ On Your Desktop PC

"As the Rage of Demons storyline sweeps across the tabletop roleplaying game and the Neverwinter and Sword Coast Legends videogames, our epic trailer brings the demon lords and legendary drow ranger Drizzt Do’Urden to life." I just copy-pasted that from the site via Firefox.

D&D 5E (2014) The tech types of your homebrew settings and characters

I've never liked the idea of firearms in D&D, but I could be persuaded if a player of mine ever really wanted to do it (Critical Role's Pathfinder gunslinger mash-up looks really fun). I use interesting poisons if there are PC's who would benefit, and if it doesn't just unbalance the game of...

D&D 5E (2014) Horror and Ravenloft adventure poll

I've never found horror to work very well in D&D, but I've played a lot of Ravenloft over the years and I enjoy the setting for bringing something unique to the game. The best (and most horrifying) Ravenloft adventures for me have been one-shots where everyone musters a lot of dramatic energy...

    D&D 5E (2014) Eberron popularity in 5E

I think that's less a suggestion and all-but a certainty given Chris Perkins' train of thought in that interview, but I doubt it'll happen for a couple of years.

D&D 5E (2014) Do LEVELS Have Concrete Meaning In Your Game?

With regards to spell levels, yes. From a narrative point of view, it's nice to be able to say a wizard has "advanced to the third circle" or whatever you want to call it. With regards to PC experience, no. Or at least, no more than, "That guy could obviously kick that other guy's butt."

WotC's Chris Perkins Talks About... Everything! Upcoming Storylines, Products, Staffing, Other World

If this is true then tell me this: why is it "Sword Coast Legends" and not "Forgotten Realms Legends"..? Why is it "Princes of the Apocalypse" and not "Forgotten Realms: Elemental Evil"..? Why "Out of the Abyss" and not "Forgotten Realms: Madness of the Underdark"..? For a company so hell bent...

    D&D 5E (2014) Best 5E Adventure?

I wouldn't like to rate OoTA or the Tiamat adventures without running them. I long ago learned the lesson that adventures often play completely differently than they read. Having said that, I just joined a HotDQ campaign, and will soon be launching an OoTA campaign, so should have a better idea...

    D&D 5E (2014) PCs as Ghosts

Just as a random suggestion, the 3E product "Ghostwalk" might have some inspiration for you, as it was based entirely on this idea.
