There were elves and dwarves in the MM through 3e. Gnome was famously a monster in 4e. And that information could be useful, it was not the same as the PHB info.

There is a difference between “resurgence” and being a curiosity. It is also amusing to see the return of the list of fails. Many things listed, yet not all (Gleemax, never forget). But 4e lives on. 5e 2024 is full of it.

I have mixed feelings. But it does allow for a relatively concise easy to read how to play section at the the start of the PHB. It would get much heavier if all the details of the glossary were included.

I don't think there is an obligation to include anything in one's fantasy adventures that one does not wish to include.

the d20 Cthulhu book is actually really good. Its just that BRP CoC is also really good. There are worse problems to have.

Sexy fantasy art is great, and being sexy is the fantasy for many. But yes early D&D was asymmetric, with males almost always dressed and armored in more practical terms.

Following up on the last post. In terms of finding games and players, Roll20 does have a built in system. I just checked, there are openings for AD&D and Old School Essentials/B/X.
