So, picking up on that other thread on Tiamat. This ancient being of chaos was one of the few, if not the only, female unique named being in the AD&D monster manual. So the real sexism is that she was the token (and perhaps the heart) of high level monsters. But then Gygax gets to work...

Ending my current campaign soon, starting a new one in September . 24 PHB only player facing book allowed. Then a small amount of hand waving and patching until the other books show up.

Essentials was a stand alone game. You could mix and match stuff across the two (you really had to use the essentials monster book) but that was not unique to 4e.

Disad in dark I use. Passive perception I don’t really use. But often it’s a normal check. Sometimes perception checks take place with a light source, sometimes they are based on sound. Sometimes it’s investigation. But perception is certainly a major skill.

This version has featuritis. Also, spell breaker broken? Edit: by version I mean the 2024 one, not just the wizard.

Their loosing me again. Who would pick warden…when there are funner ways to melee? And why not just make wild shape a spell? And why, if the class was already too complicated, keep adding things?

I also wonder if all the information in the original dragon magazine articles was republished in the box set? I don’t think (all) the art was, maybe not all the full write ups.

The gods did walk Oerth, and several of them were trapped in Castle Greyhawk-itself created by the mad demigod Zagyg. Along with the demon lord Graz’zt. Until some adventuring PCs set them free!

Slaad tadpole for the win! Definitely my favorite so far. Barbarian was a low point, This might make up for it.

One guess: The DM does think they are ready for the “main” part of the campaign yet. So they keep the trip going. A lack of preparation and confidence, sometimes combined with grand intent, explains a lot of DM issues I have encountered over the years.

There are some cracks and some stuff sticking out, not the same.

My main problem with the new one is that it doesn’t show depth, while being 3D. What’s the point of that?
