D&D 5E (2024) Are you going to buy the new 2024 D&D Core Books

I'll definitely get the PH. Maybe the DMG. Monster Manual... perhaps.

D&D 5E (2014) What are the "True Issues" with 5e?

I agree with this. Having a money-based magic item economy like 3E and 4E reduces the portential for meaningful plots revolving around money in investment, politics etc. Basically, if gold = xp in another form, other uses of money disappears. 5E tried to avoid this, but it seems to be returning...

    Paizo Announces Starfinder 2nd Edition

Yeah, knowing what its going to be makes it easier to ignore. And it also tells me PF2 is not a disaster for Paizo - if it was they wouldn't bet further on it. Which I quite like - Paizo is a nice publisher even if they turned away from my interests. Good luck to them.

D&D General Why is "OSR style" D&D Fun For You?

These are pretty much my reasons for not playing AD&D. :) I am not getting into why to not start an edition war. In the end it boils down to preference and taste.

    Aliens: Yes Or No?

There are no aliens within our light cone that have made gross changes to their surroundings, such as creating a dyson swarm. We'd see that. If there are intelligent aliens, they are very subtle or very far away. Likely several galaxies away.

WotC WotC: 'Artists Must Refrain From Using AI Art Generation'

AI makes a lot of craft skills related to pictures obsolete, or at least less commercially viable. But sill it is a tool for artists - it can't create anything on itself. Using Ai to create pictures is a human skill.

D&D General Should D&D Be "Hard"

Most of my players want DnD to be hard. I and one of the players are in the DnD should be easy camp. :D

    Paizo Announces Starfinder 2nd Edition

If Starfinder 2 has any similarity to Pathfinder 2, its a no-go for me. And at this point I don't have enough confidence in Paizo to actually check up this is true. :( I might read some reviews.

Which game has your favorite magic system?

niklinna mentions TORG Infinity. I want to mention the original TORG magic system from the Aysle sourcebook. Its a honorable mention only - it had terrible balance and was way too random, and spending possibilities (TORG's Xp and Hero Points combined) you could make spells very powerful at quite...

D&D General What is player agency to you?

From the original post, it seems that the relationship between the players and GM would be pretty antagonistic, with a GM that withholds information and players that want the freedom to do stupid stuff. I would actually like to try to play in such a game, and I could say I am at present, in the...

D&D General Which D&D World Would Make the Best TV Show

I voted Planescape and Dragonlance, not because these are my favorite settings (that would be Greyhawk) but because they are different and distinct and suitable to creative stories. What is a good setting for a game and a TV-series is not the same thing.

D&D 5E (2024) What type of ranger would your prefer for 2024?

In 5E terms I think ranger spellcasting should be part of subclasses. I want spellcasting to be an option for rangers, not mandatory. The obvious comparison is the Eldritch Knight, but spellcasting rangers could have more variety and possibly be more powerful spellcasters - such as the ranger is...

RPG Evolution: The Sea Peoples Campaign

Isn't there a game named something like Diana, princess of the 20th century published a few years ago, a play on the Xena TV series? This is what I could find thru Google: Review of Diana: Warrior Princess - RPGnet RPG Game Index

D&D 5E (2024) Do you see Fighter players at your own table?

I replied 1 fighter. I have one regular, veteran player that plays fighters in whatever game he is playing. He is not currently playing in my 5E game. I have another veteran player that is playing a fighter now in my 5E game. Both are playing champions in their forays into 5E.

D&D General "that you can see", "line of sight", glass, mirrors, ~clairvoyance, blindsight, and anything else.

Completely agree here, and i think the game agrees as well. A creature with blindsight can satisfy the sight requirement for spells without vision. A creature with tremorsense cannot, as it is noted in the description of temorsense that it doesn't. That doesn't prevent a specific creature to...

D&D General How do people play so quickly? (# of sessions per adventure?)

I don t see fast play as a good thing in all cases. There are things that are good to spend time on, and things you want to run smoothly and quickly. In general, mechanical elements should be quick, while player actions that are not rule interactions can be allowed to take time.

D&D General "that you can see", "line of sight", glass, mirrors, ~clairvoyance, blindsight, and anything else.

My take: If you are holding a blanket, the blanket is part of you as far as targeting goes. Perhaps this could be considered a way to do the Dodge action? If you hang the blanket so that it is supported and blocks line of sight, it will block spells that require the target to see you...

RPG Crowdfunding News – Koboa, Epic Threats, Comics, FLGS, and more

I met some Mörk Borg people here at LinCon, a local games convention in Linköping, Sweden. Young and talented, they seemed to be growing out of the garage and becoming a publisher. They were as amazed as me at the coverage they get. Mörk Borg is not my kind of game, but I really wish them luck...

D&D General If A Noble holds 1 title per country in 2 neighbouring countries what can he do if those countries go to war?, after all no matter what he lose's

I feel that the Noble background is an impoverished noble from a minor bloodline. Sort of how D'Artagnan is a noble, but his only starting resources are his clothes, his rapier, a letter of introduction, and the horse he sells as soon as he arrives in Paris. Yes, having a noble name makes it...
