#RPGaDAY Day 31: What do you anticipate most for gaming in 2018?

I'm with you here. I perused a copy of Starfinder, hoping it would bring the crunch out of Pathfinder. After playing 3E/3.5 since its debut, I never got into Pathfinder - 3.5 had already burned the crunchiness out of me by then. Sadly, it's still the same system, so it's just selling to those...

#RPGaDAY Day 29: What has been the best-run Kickstarter you have backed?

This is quite difficult in truth, because there aren't any Kickstarters I've been a part of that have been run poorly. I backed Numenera (and Tides of Numenera), Bones, Bard's Tale IV, and a few others. While there've been delays, confusions, and more - the teams have been diligent and...

#RPGaDAY Day 31: What do you anticipate most for gaming in 2018?

Gotta second quite a lot of the opinions from the original post (especially WHFRP and Witcher). I'll also have to add anything from Wizards of the Coast; they haven't launched a product I haven't purchased yet, and I'm sure that will continue.

#RPGaDAY Day 27: What are your essential tools for good gaming?

I wouldn't call them essentials, but I use Maptools along with a projector so I can use digital battle maps on our table top. That combined with Microsoft OneNote just makes gaming easier (and more artistic) than ever. Saves a ton on printer ink, too :P

#RPGaDAY Day 22: Which RPGs are the easiest for you to run?

DnD 5E, Shadowrun Anarchy (not to be confused at all with 5E), F.A.T.E. (any), and Numenera. I cycle through the different systems at least every other month or so. When your group loves diversity, the GM has no option but to love a lot of easy to run systems, heh.

#RPGaDAY Day 26: Which RPG provides the most useful resources?

AD&D 2nd edition. In addition to being my gateway into roleplaying with its release in 1989, the sheer volume of options and fluff behind those options helped shape the very foundation of the type of dungeon master I am today. The more companion books they released, the more I saw how a simple...

Egyptian-themed D&D Setting with PLANE SHIFT: AMONKHET

I noticed with the Anubite people, they have a racial proficiency with the Khopesh... where do we go about finding the stats for that weapon? I'm assuming I'd just use Scimitar, but curious if anyone else has noticed this and had found a solution.

Is TOMB OF HORRORS the Worst Adventure Of All Time?

This adventure was designed to challenge high level characters that had become arrogant in their supremacy (in Mr. Gygax's home campaign, prior to being formally written for tournament play in 75) - this fact alone gives me quite a large profile of those who do, and do not, like the content...

You Can Play TORMENT: TIDES OF NUMENERA Tomorrow (Sort Of)

Went all out with the Numenera Kickstarter, so I couldn't pass up backing my favorite game studio working with Mr. Cook in this endeavor. If this game did score high conventionally, I'd be worried that they didn't capture Numenera well enough - so good news to my ears!

Would You Back The Mystery $1 RPG Kickstarter?

Backed. Now to pick a title.

Free D&D 5E Monster A Day PDF On Reddit

http://thegeniusinc.com/dd-monster-maker-download/?ref=3.0.0 That's a monster generator program. Its not what Stonestrix uses, but it makes a pretty much perfect png (and other exportables) of the monster stat block.

Ancient Dwarven Town overrun by orcs centuries ago

Check out the Hammerfast Module from 4e. It was a Dwarven Town sacked by Orcs long ago, but now has Dwarf and Orc living (regretfully) side by side. It has nothing but plot hooks that you could easily twist, with no edition-specific knowledge needed.

How many people do you know who haven't switched to 5e, and why haven't they?

I don't know anyone in my circle of DnD acquaintances that hasn't converted wholly. We were playing Fate/Numenera, and anything else we could get our hands on to avoid Pathfinder and 4e. They just took too much work, honestly, and we were lazy.

D&D 5E (2014) Bladesinger tank!? Madness, or crazy like a fox?

Bladesinger is my all-time favorite kit, ever since first reading about it in the Complete Elf's Handbook for 2E. That being said, I think they have done their best job yet of bringing it to a new edition in 5E. With the proper spell selection, and the reliability upon cantrips for most of...

    Ranger backstory/player help

The first small tip I can give, is to point you toward the Backgrounds in the Player's Handbook for 5e. There are some new ones in the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide if you have access to that as well, but they are very steeped in Forgotten Realms lore. With some work, however, conversion is...

    D&D 5E (2014) Why do you multiclass?

Role-play reasons, as well as feel and theme. Example: I'm running my group through the Slave Lords path. I put in an NPC (that is now pretty much a solid member of the group) that was a Half-Orc Barbarian, raised amongst his own, but through his backstory found a source of enlightenment to...

D&D 5E (2014) How do I make a challenging investigation for a high level cleric?

Spellcasting can circumnavigate a lot of mundane gameplay, granted. I have a simple method for dealing with this, however, that leaves me satisfied with the investigative portion of my adventures, and still leaves my magic-using characters feeling a great accomplishment through their spell...

    D&D 5E (2014) How Much D&D is To Much?

My family and I play together on a daily basis. Its usually only 2 - 3 hour sessions, but its our alternative to television. We'd much rather create the escape ourselves, than watch someone else give us their interpretations. So I would say, like the others, if your life is still on track...

    D&D 5E (2014) Increasing spell power

My House Rule on this issue: For all (save at end of turn) mechanics that otherwise end the spell, I allow the caster to invoke disadvantage on the save once per creature affected. The caster chooses when that disadvantage applies, giving them the power (and thus intellectual decision-making)...

So INTERPARTY conflict time, how do you handle it as a DM?

The last time I was involved in 'drama', in any way, shape, or form, was over 17 years ago, during 2nd edition. I was in high school, and our DM was from the Chainmail era - very competition-minded style of play, so he never minded our characters being slightly darker, or more competitive...
