D&D 5E (2014) On GWF and a versatile fighting style

If I wanted to enhance the usefulness of the Versatile weapon property in my games with a simple fix, I'd consider making one modification to the Great Weapon Master feat: Great Weapon Master [*=1]On your turn, when you score a critical hit with a melee weapon or reduce a creature to 0 hit...

D&D 5E (2014) Why the Druid Metal Restriction is Poorly Implemented

The designers deliberately chose not to lay out strict restrictions and guidelines for the adjudication of Stealth, and you're expecting a treatise on what constitutes metal armor and its ill effects for one class? Relax and consider the silver lining from the DM perspective. If a player's...

    D&D 5E (2014) Acquisitions, Inc.: First Impressions

Their shows cultivated a large following for the D&D brand during the 4e years before live play podcasts and streaming really started to take off, including a lot of people that previously never had any experience with tabletop RPGs. Their tone might not align with your tastes, but they're...

D&D 5E (2014) Durable Feat is weak, Healer feat is too strong

I don't know if you're joking, but that's actually one of the aspects of 5e some people struggle to embrace, so they continue to be frustrated that the game isn't performing to their expectations. I'm fairly certain some of the designers have directly stated or heavily implied that you're...

D&D 5E (2014) Durable Feat is weak, Healer feat is too strong

I modified the Durable feat to restore all Hit Dice after a long rest. It's much simpler and allows more characters to take advantage of its benefits. Even in this form, it's only appealing to those looking for renewable non-magical healing resources. It might not be a bad choice if your safe...

    D&D 5E (2014) XGTE Errata

The "Spot forged text" entry under Calligrapher's Supplies supplies likely refers to spotting forgery directly related to works that specifically feature calligraphy. As per the text for the tool: My inference is that forging or spotting forgeries of general documents and text aren't covered...

    D&D 5E (2014) Improving Two-Weapon Fighting

My only "fix" is adding a single benefit to the Dual Wielder feat (inspired by Elven Accuracy): Whenever you have advantage on a melee weapon attack roll while you are wielding a separate melee weapon in each hand, you can reroll one of the dice once.

Baldurs Gate 3 apparently in development (with evidence)

I believe they're getting released on PS4 and Xbox One, as well (for those that don't keep up with console gaming news).

    D&D 5E (2014) Ghosts of Saltmarsh: A Review

Have the crew/nautical rules been notably modified or expanded since they were released in UA: Of Ships and the Sea?

D&D 5E (2014) [Houserule] An Alternative Bless and Guidance

I set the bonus of both spells to a flat +2.

D&D 5E (2014) Crafting Items - Expert Craftsman vs Adventurers

I understand your binary postulation, but I don't agree with the rationale. I don't find passive checks to be a problem at any DC since they all have a requisite action. It's possible for a door to be poorly hidden, but if no one ever has a reason to look for it, it achieves the same desired...

Only automatic if someone is making an effort to Search. If no Search action is taken, the door will remain hidden.

If an NPC is telling the truth, what's the Insight DC to know they're telling the truth?

If meaningful choices don't often preclude the die roll, the act of simply rolling can become tedious. No different than fights with foregone conclusions that drag out far too long.

D&D 5E (2014) Crafting Items - Expert Craftsman vs Adventurers

I'm pretty sure that was an explicit design goal.

D&D 5E (2014) Pets The Problem and Solution

I'd have preferred any "pet" class features to be more akin to summons (i.e. situational, temporary help at the cost of a resource) and any long term followers, animal or otherwise, to function as NPCs. I believe it would have circumvented a lot of the ongoing bellyaching regarding class balance...

If an NPC is telling the truth, what's the Insight DC to know they're telling the truth?

It's certainly a possibility. But that could likely be a reflection of his personality and attitude rather than his "low INT." Either way, it's the player's right to choose which variant of the fiction is representative of their respective character.

If an NPC is telling the truth, what's the Insight DC to know they're telling the truth?

Of course. Because the quarterback is obviously a mindless automaton with no ability to learn.
