D&D 5E (2024) Which subclasses “should” have been in 2024

Well, no. I was suggesting blending them into a single subclass. But @Stormonu is correct. If the Fighter-Cleric (a.k.a. Paladin) is special enough to have had its own base class (forever), then the Fighter-Mage is definitely special enough (and loooong overdue) to have its own base class. So...

D&D 5E (2024) Which subclasses “should” have been in 2024

There is. It's called a "generalist" or "universalist" mage/wizard. It's the default uses-(all)magic guy. Is there no way to play 5.whateverwe'recallingit WITHOUT taking a subclass? Alternately, you could move the Eldritch Knight (if one must have one) and Arcane Trickster (if one must have...

D&D 5E (2014) What PC species should return for 5ed?

mmmmmm, none, thanks. There are already too many. More "interdimensional/Planescape" non-human people are completely unnecessary. Several of what there is need to be cut as is it.

D&D 5E (2024) Which subclasses “should” have been in 2024

To clarify my original post.. 1. I want the non-magic classes to BE non-magical/psychic. 2. I AM a fan of psychic powers and classes in a fantasy (as a separate from/different form of supernatural power to "spellcasting"). And do/would want them presented as their own, separate, form of...

D&D General Dragons of Chaos and Law in Mythology?

This would seem to be a shortcoming or incomplete presentation from Barber. As just about any other mythology source references her as a dragon....or draconic/dragon-like "monster." Be that as it may, I am wondering, though I am unfamiliar with them having proper names, in legend or actuality...

D&D 5E (2024) Which subclasses “should” have been in 2024

Oh, yeah, and just to pile on...the 'Clockwork" sorcerer is just a ridiculous thematically ludicrous idea for the class.

D&D 5E (2024) Which subclasses “should” have been in 2024

    4 non-magic, non-psychic subclasses of Fighter. 4 non-magic, non-psychic subclasses of Thief(Rogue). 3 non-magic, non-psychic subclasses of Ranger. 3 non-magic, non-psychic subclasses of Barbarian. 3 (maybe 2) non-magic, non-psychic subclasses of Monk.

These. ...and they're not called "tabaxi."

D&D General Build the "Definitive Pantheon"

That is certainly a valid choice. You could also have, for instance, the D&D version of Tiamat/Dragonlance Takhisis or other "supreme monster/dragon" creatures, elementals/primordial threats, dark/evil fae godlings, all those "Great Old Ones" we keep hearing about... (EDIT: What makes 'em...

D&D General Build the "Definitive Pantheon"

For a definitive pantheon, I'd say you'd need the following things/portfolios met, for a fantasy gaming world. I will throw in some characters as I understand them, but my knowledge of "D&D Specific/only" (the Greyhawk ones, the Forgotten Realms ones, who knows who else) deities is limited. So...

    D&D 5E (2024) All 48 Player’s Handbook 2024 Subclasses

So, the thread highlighting/about the new classes/subclasses for the new edition has become a multi-page tennis match over a class/subclass from a bygone edition that isn't on that list. It's like the new edition opens the door to resurrect ye olde "edition wars"... just using a new...

D&D General What magic potion do you dump into the local water supply?

There is enough potion to make this a permanent effect? Like, the villagers are permanently changed and anyone who drinks it is subject to the effect? Or just a standard potion effect (8 or so or maybe 24 hours)? That'd change things. I'm thinking Shrinking would be a fun option...for being...

D&D 5E (2024) What would you like to see in the new Monster Manual (2025)?

I want an alphabetized listing. I want pages of index, at the end, by creature type. I want pages of groupings of creatures that can be found in particular types/styles of terrains/settings, including not just "mountains, forests, swamps, etc...," but Mini-adventure-ready-made-monster-lists...

    D&D 5E (2024) All 48 Player’s Handbook 2024 Subclasses

'Parantly I posted in the wrong commenty place... Sooo....hmm... it looks like Fighter and Rogue have two of four non-magic subclasses. Barbarian and Monk (arguably) would have 1 of 4 (Berserker & Open Hand). Ranger, still, is reading as magic-use is part of the archetype... So...of 48...

Comment by 'steeldragons' in media 'subclasses.jpeg'

[EDIT: Previous comment irrelevant to image.] The page of simple explanation/description is great. The art with the LJN action figure characters (plus whoever/wherever "Molliver" came from) is awesome. It's like I'm 10, playing with my D&D toys, again. A peculiar, but pretty great, sensation at 52.

D&D General It's Session Zero! How Much Backstory Do You Give Your Character?

I'm "a bit" but almost definitely, whether I write down anything or not, a sketch/drawing of them is definitely going to be done by/for session zero.

D&D General Lowest level of magic that still "feels like D&D"

I can see both the "1st level spells are enough" and the "3rd level spells cap" as playing/feeling like D&D. Illusions and enchantments are at the heart of just about any magical lore/legend/tradition. Putting people to sleep, enchanting them to do your bidding, turning invisible, mirror...
