D&D Movie/TV Hasbro Getting Out Of The Movie Business

Killing dollar theaters hurt them too. Sure fees the streaming services pay to host the movies offset that to some degree, but it also nuked the weekly/monthly"movie night" routine for many and people didn't opt for a regular theater if the cheap options were slim and there was something worth...

D&D Movie/TV Hasbro Getting Out Of The Movie Business

Maybe in a full on tv series that could devote tens of minutes to developing some of those plot threads. In a 2 hour movie they were just some of the awkward scenes that served as an awkward hot springs episode level of fan service taking the place of scenes that could have directly developed &...

D&D Movie/TV Hasbro Getting Out Of The Movie Business

I suspect that it also means that such a sequel would have significantly less focus on box checking scenes and plot threads too. You wouldn't have time wanted on Tabaxi are popular so include a creepy scene rescuing one from a fish Show that wild magic sorc can fit well with the party so...

    D&D 5E (2024) Uncommon items - actually common?

Trouble is that "multiverse stuff" tends to be much closer to "almost always literal FR loredump being presented as something setting agnostic". Unfortunately that leads to some fans of that setting to dig in with certainty of it being purely generic fluff even while using it to draw upon more...

    D&D 5E (2024) Uncommon items - actually common?

I forget the specifics of how it came up★ but Alice was new to d&d and asked something along the lines of if magic in eberron was closer to dresden files harry potter (one or two more things I forget or )something else. I explained that way waaay back there were the three progenitor wyrms & an...

    D&D 5E (2024) Uncommon items - actually common?

All you are accomplishing here is providing a demonstration of how the PHB encourages toxic player behavior. Unsurprisingly I've seen a player cite that same passagewhile reading from the book in an effort to correct eberron's lore after I presented it at the table. It's hard to find any...

    D&D 5E (2024) Uncommon items - actually common?

No,,, "The Weave" is a specific & fairly deep bit of FR specific lore linked to FR specific gods through that FR specific lore. Magic on Athas is extremely different and those differences are a big part of the setting. Attempting to shoehorn FR lore into every other setting displaces the lore...

    D&D 5E (2024) Uncommon items - actually common?

Thanks for demonstrating why some FR superfan should never have been allowed unchecked access to insert lore into the mechanics and why it should have been fixed during editing. I've been an eberron GM trying to correct someone about FR lore like the weave being printed in places it had no...

D&D 5E (2024) Should Bounded Accuracy apply to skill checks? Thoughts on an old Alexandrian article

This whole back & forth between you two perfectly illustrates why the GM & players having the option to lean on the functionality of bonus types/DM's best friend & a DC ladder tuned to "who could do it" or even the more varied skill challenges instead of the one size must fit all (dis)advantage...

Eberron and dark sun would disagree while disproving your setting specific lore Neither can what you "suggested" because it was a tangent stemming from taking about the core mechanics themselves and you are trying to "suggest" setting specific lore.

D&D 5E (2024) Should Bounded Accuracy apply to skill checks? Thoughts on an old Alexandrian article

This kind of "split the party and..." lock scenario gets raised incredibly often but there's actually an eberron adventure that uses something similar (forgotten forge? whitehearth?). Every time I've run it or seen it run there is one of two scenarios that happens A: someone already knows...

    D&D 5E (2024) Uncommon items - actually common?

This is important for costly spell components because ultimately costly spell compoare magic items and should present as such instead of presenting as a perfunctory checkbox as they do now. No I think it would do something very different in a good way using dragonshard as the fantasy...

    D&D 5E (2024) Uncommon items - actually common?

Not at all. A diamond (singular) is a thing that can be valued. Diamonds plural are a commodity that should be listed however that commodity is valued such as "3 dragonshards worth of diamonds" and an associated 100gp/dragonshard listed somewhere.

    D&D 5E (2024) Uncommon items - actually common?

No that's not really the case either because the unit there is the singular diamond itself, carats only came up in reference to diamond dust not being measured in a standard in a standard unit☆ because the source makes it dirt cheap & people were asking economic questions & complaining d&d is...

    D&D 5E (2024) Uncommon items - actually common?

Quite the strawman there... We are talking about spells with a costly component needing to list a specific item instead of the current setup where they create problems by listing the price of an item.

Those guidelines tend to be written with the goal of creating a product like a specific item, that immediately goes sideways when the item in question is a price tag.

It's not "merchants & miners" level economics depth, it's beneath kids with a front yard lemonaid stand level economics. Even a five year old with a lemonaid stand understands that they need to get back more than they spent on lemonaid mix & cups in order for their lemonaid stand plan to make...
