    KotS with 4 PCs

I also have just 2 players, so will have to do some serious thinking about this adventure. It does help, though, that the players are used to me running an NPC in the party, so I'll only have to scale down to 3 players. I know it's going to be easier if we move onto the full game (and certainly...

    Excerpt: Archons (merged)

The Maul is a basic attack. It has the circle round its sword icon, which means it is the creature's basic attack. What makes this tactic more terrifying is the fact that you spend your entire turn (barring minor actions and action points) getting out from between them, take 2 OAs in the...

    Escape from Sembia

It's a con game, and a preview of a rule set as yet unpublished. It's always going to be a railroad.

Rogue powers, sneak attack and weapon selection

From what I recall reading way back a couple of months or so ago, the key thing is that Rogues are apparently going to get powers that give them combat advantage, so they won't have to work so hard to get the chance to Sneak Attack.

Keep on the Shadowfell - mini review ! <Very mild spoilers>

I've been holding off from adding to the multitude of questions being aimed at the people who have access to the adventure, but I have to ask: Are there rules for scaling down? I only have 2 players in my group, so tend to run 3e with them and 1 NPC. Will this approach be feasible in KotS?

Knowledge of Real World Places Only Through Gaming

Seattle. That may sound bad, but I am English, living in England, and I was in my early teen years when I was first introduced to Shadowrun, so knowledge of American cities wasn't my highest priority. But, yes, almost my entire knowledge of the city of Seattle comes from those fine folks at...

Keep on the Shadowfell Spotlight Interview

Not that weird. That's the way it was in Sunless Citadel. As to the pre-gens, we'll be using them because my group's one of those mentioned by someone else - my friends aren't sure about 4e, so I'm going to buy and run KotS ASAP and see if we enjoy it before we shell out for the core books...

D&D 4E UK 4E Launch Event at The London Dungeon

I haven't been to any of their evenings, but they truly are an *F* LGS. I'll be there on the 7th, so I may meet some of you multitude of Cambridge gamers then!

[Ampersand] Bill Slavicsek on campaign settings

Good, I'm glad I'm not the only one pining for the desert. A 3 book line for Al-Qadim would be heaven for me. While in general I tend to run on homebrewed worlds, I have a massive soft spot for the Arabian Adventures. Also, on behalf of one of my friends who isn't on ENWorld, I wish to stick...

    Is "Justiciar" the new "Rogue?"

What I don't understand is how people are claiming Justicar is pronounced just-a-car. To me, that 5th letter is an 'i', not an 'a' or a 'u'. I pronounce it jus-tic-ar, like it's spelled. And count me as one of those who had never heard of Justiciar before this article appeared, but had been...

    Excerpt: powers (merged)

Why is sneak attack even being discussed. It's not mentioned on the card. Surely the simplest solution is that the character has 2 weapons to choose from, one which does 1d8 and has a special crit property adding 2d6, and another which does 2d8+1 and has a 2d8 crit property...

I'd rather Komarck had used different models for the Githzerai and Githyanki. As it is, it looks like it's the same three people in 2 different poss, and one set has an Astral tan. I have nothing against artists using models, but when it's 2 similar races, please, use different models!

    Excerpt: Paragon paths (merged)

I'm pretty sure you have nothing to fear in that respect. The schedule of Excerpts (shown in a different thread on ENWorld) includes one a week from now entitled 'Multiclassing'. I doubt they'd put out an excerpt simply saying "See the Paragon Paths article". They may get a few complaints if...

    PrCs

I reckon there's a good chance you will. After all, there's the retraining rules in the DMG, which allow picking new feats to replace old ones, and it's distinctly possible that that's not limited to just feats, so PP could be something you can re-choose. Just speculation, mind.

    Daily Art Preview

The thing I find most amusing about the 3E Tarrasque is that it was messed up when coloured. The line drawing (here ) clearly has the thing with beady little predator's eyes, and looking rather mean. After colouring, it gets eyes in its ears and looks about as threatening as a giant beagle.

    Sidewind Charging, driving me nuts.

Except, as has been pointed out by others, the charging person gets a basic attack, then on the enemy's turn, is flanked by two people who can both use powers, because they didn't charge. That's not what I'd call an exploit or terribliy advantageous to the charger.

RPG stats for all Dungeons of Dread minis

Having looked further, I like the way the Hydra's many-headedness is worked with, albeit I never want to be a player facing one! I mean, the thing starts off with 4 bites, then gains one for each 50hp it loses (strictly speaking it loses one, then gains two, but the net effect is the same), so...

RPG stats for all Dungeons of Dread minis

Wow, one quick look and that Beholder's nasty! Minor action to give someone Def -5 and Vulnerable Fire 5, then a standard action to hit them with a fire ray that'll almost certainly hit, plus hit someone else with another ray. And he's got an action point! Plus, good luck trying to get away...

    Keep on the Shadowfell

I don't give a monkey's how far in advance of the release of the books it is. In fact, it could come out at the same time as the books and I'd still buy it, for one major reason: My friends aren't yet sure whether they want to switch to 4e, and an adventure with quick play rules will let them...
