    Dundjinni and licensing dispute?

It sounds like we need to start working on public domain art packs to allow full, open use of the material people want to create.

Errors, Development, Editing and Complete Divine

One has to wonder though, if Eberon was graced with the same "quality" checks as Complete Divine. I'm not about to drop $40 for a book that is going to be filled with stupid mistakes. Thanks to the wonderful efforts in Complete Divine, I may not pick up Eberron until I see the errata for it...

Update: Malhavoc PDFs no longer available at RPGnow (merged)

I think the biggest problem is that DRM doesn't add any value to a PDF product for the consumer. Nobody likes to be told they can't cut and paste their PDF. In fact, I would say it's a, "no sale" just based on principle, regardless of any desire I have to cut and paste. With all due respect...

    Eberron - Cool or Drool?

I, and a few of the lucky folks at my FLGS, had the chance to get their grubby hands on a preview copy of Eberron today (as well as ALL of the new Giants of Legend minis). No, it wasn't for sale--street date is around the 18th. The artwork in the book has a very clean look to it. Much of the...

    Really great dice?

Gamescience makes "truer" dice, meaning that they are more random than many of the other brands. That, at least, has been how they sell their dice, and I know several of my Chessex d20's have tendencies to land on certain numbers more than others. Nevertheless, I like the variety and colors of...

Etools 1.5 patch available at CMP

I don't have a problem staying in 3.5 mode, but it still seems most of the MM races will crash etools if you attempt to throw in a template. I know I'm not satisfied with it.

    D&D games and distractions

Sounds like all the parents want to have their cake and eat it too. It reminds me of people that go to see R-rated movies with their kids, just so THEY can see the film. Hire a babysitter! Parents aren't allowed to stop being parents until the kids are 18--usually a lot older than that...

Etools 1.5 patch available at CMP

The CMP boards are so full of monkey talk that I get tired of reading them. It's nice that they have a theme and all, but monkey this, and monkey that gets really old, really fast, and I prefer to dialogue with adults who use English. As for the templates, it more frequently works in the...

Etools 1.5 patch available at CMP

The new 1.5 patch is up at CMP. It appears it will update any older version to 1.5 *edit* After playing with the templates function a bit, *MOST* of them simply crash etools right away. Very uncool. This is using the 3.5v core dataset BTW. I am greatly disappointed, but will spend the...

The Official Cicada Swarm Help Thread

My only problem with a swarm of cicadas is that they dont really harm warm-blooded animals AFAIK. Now a dire cicada, that would be a cool gnome druid animal companion and mount. :D Google up some research on cicadas and see what you can do with it, but they aren't really a pest in the...

What character generation method do you use?

I'm a point buy guy myself. Usually, I prefer 30 points, but will give out points or XP as added rewards depending upon how much work the players put into their characters at the start. a painted mini, a well developed background story, or an in-character prop are all worthy of some extra...

    TSR pdfs

The pdfs are hardly a blip on the profit radar for WotC. I think if they offered it on CDs, it would be more profitable for them. Just like people go looking for the Dragon Archive CD-ROMs, I think it would be cool to have the entire 1E/2E collection on my shelf as an archive.

The Official Cicada Swarm Help Thread

These things are in the Far East all the time. It is kind of tranquil to be in the middle of a trail with trees all around, and hearing the cicadas. It's no more different to me than hearing crickets at night. They don't typically bother people. When I was young, I had a cousin that caught...

    Rerunning convention games

At larger cons, one is much more likely to see the same game running in different slots. You, yourself, said that you "recycle" 3 games. A DM who is running a familiar scenario, doesn't have to spend the extra time it takes to prepare a new one. While I don't think anybody would want to...

    Should bad guys stabalize?

In most cases, the non-bosses just aren't worth the trouble of stabalizing IMO. Keeping them alive just that extra bit longer will not promote the "fun factor" in the session. What it will do is allow the fight to drag on a few more rounds while the party goes around slitting throats, or...

How Many ENWorlders Have You Met?

The EN World Chicago Gamedays have become a regular hangout for EN Worlders. Also, the ENnies at GenCon are another hot spot. I think it was the Gamers seeking Gamers forum that started it all for me though. It always starts with just one or two, and then, next thing you know they are all...

    Complete Divine Full Page Art

My first thought was that the art was a bit "scratchy" and unrefined (the image of Jozan and the lich come to mind), but I did like that they used full-page art.

Chicago Gameday: Read about what you missed

Do you get the chance to shine in the game?

Regardless of your character type, I think it is in those unexpected moments of brilliance (whether success or failure) that really make the biggest impressions. Everybody already knows that the undead hunter is better at hunting undead, etc. It's when he tactfully diplomacizes with a ghost...

    Dwarf Paladin Code

You might look in the back pages of Heroes of High Favor: Dwarves from Badaxe Games. I know there are some virtues listed in there. At only $10, it is a good value compared to most class/race sourcebooks. Also, I would look at the Roman Virtues for some inspiration.
