D&D General Can ChatGPT create a Campaign setting?

I'm just finding it a fun toy that can help quickly with generic ideas when I don't have time to come up with them myself. It certainly has helped me get over the horror of a blank page. Or I can amuse myself by writing stupid prompts:

D&D General Can ChatGPT create a Campaign setting?

It's a fun tool though that can be good for flavour while playing. For instance, the players enter a goblin restaurant so I ask: "Please provide a menu for a goblin restaurant". Sure! Here's a sample menu for a goblin restaurant that features exotic and unique ingredients: Appetizers...

D&D General Keys from the Golden Vault look through.

Yes, I was thinking The Chamber as well, or possibly a Rakshasa posing as The Chamber. In between adventures the group finds clues to the identity of their benefactor, but it goes much deeper than they think. I like the idea of one secretive faction using another secretive faction as a cover.

    D&D 5E (2014) Upping Challenges for 7 Players

Very handy. Thank you. I have 7 people in my game and some of those battles drag on much longer than they should as I have to add a bunch of flunkies for the big bad. This will help.

    D&D 5E (2014) Best 5E Dungeon

The Tomb of Annihilation has some brilliant ones. The tomb itself is massive, scary and interesting. The little dungeons and locations throughout the jungle are well designed set pieces (especially Firefinger). The lost city of Omu has fantastic little puzzle dungeons throughout and the city...

D&D General Campaign Source Books vs. Adventures

5e's Tomb of Annihilation was absolutely brilliant and might just be the best campaign I have run, but did not really have much room for personalisation. Yes you could insert side-quests, but given that the majority of the adventure is coming across trouble in the jungle it does not leave a lot...

D&D General Campaign Source Books vs. Adventures

I really liked how Return to the Tomb of Horrors did it in 4e. It was a full campaign, but there were gaps in the action (so for instance, between one chapter and another it was expected that characters would have gone up a couple of levels and time would have passed) . This meant you could...

WotC Hasbro Bets Big on D&D

I'm happy as it sounds like there will be a lot of resource poured into D&D which hopefully means more adventures, more fun, more good D&D video games. I'm worried as I have a huge sunk cost in D&D rulebooks and adventures on Roll20 and I'd hate for them to become unusable or for no new...

D&D General Best Version to Experience Tomb of Horrors? (+)

I didn't enjoy the Tomb of Horrors (not a fan of insta-death and trying to trick the players), but I did enjoy Return to the Tomb of Horrors (4e) and Tomb of Annihilation (5e) might just be the best D&D module I have ever run.

Dragonlance Dragonlance: Lunar Sorcerer video by WotC

That would be insane to track. But also, what impact would a missing moon have on lunar magic? Is there an entire other school of magic that doesn't exist? Or, since the moons are linked to the plains does that mean that no magic connected to sleep or dreaming would work?

D&D 5E (2014) It's Time To Rethink What An Adventure Path Can Be On Roll20

I'm keen to explore this on Roll20 once it is complete, but am always nervous about starting something that isn't all there in case I catch up too quickly.

Which game engine suits this best?

Thanks everyone. I've had a look through and I'm really liking the modular nature of cortex prime. I think I'll be buyin that one. Then I just need to work out how to make it work easily on Roll20 as my gaming group is spread across the country.

Which game engine suits this best?

City of Mist sounds great but does not quite resonate. I need to have a look at FATE. Hard to sneak in looks at RPG systems while at work.

Which game engine suits this best?

I've just had a brief read and I think I like this system. They definitely look like a better match than the two I was thinking of. Will read further. Thanks :)

Which game engine suits this best?

I think the latter would be a better fit for my group. We have played D&D almost exclusively for quite a while and it would be nice to try something quite different in approach.

Which game engine suits this best?

That's all I have at the moment. I would adjust the rest to fit the system. Liking the look of Cortex Prime best so far from the suggestions above.

Which game engine suits this best?

Hi folks, I am coming up with a campaign idea. Sort of Men in Black meets the fantasy multiverse. The idea is that an AI has become self aware, and an unforeseen consequence of that is that the walls between the real and the imaginary are weakening. Fiction is seeping into the world, whether it...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Sandbox Adventures

Tomb of Annihilation is also one of the best pre-written campaigns I have DMed in my 42 years of DMing. It ranks up there with Red Hand of Doom. Really good to play up how hard it is to survive in the jungle and use those outdoor exploration and survival skills.
