D&D General Poll: How tough should 20th Level Fighters be? (MCU edition)

I think this is a good spot for level 20. /s That said, I do think using specific characters messes things up a bit, people will argue more about the characters themselves than what they really want the Fighter to be able to do.

D&D General Poll: How tough should 20th Level Fighters be? (MCU edition)

I was trying to think of some Strength showings in modules, and one that comes to mind is from Storm King's Thunder: A 40 foot diameter granite boulder ought to be heavy as hell, with 20 feet radius, the sphere should have 33510 cubic feet of volume, Google says density of granite is around...

D&D General Poll: How tough should 20th Level Fighters be? (MCU edition)

If you have 30 Strength (times 30 to get maximum lift), Gargantuan size (Eight times the medium's max), the Totem Warrior's Aspect of the Beast for Bear (doubles it), the Enhance Ability Bull's Strength spell (doubles again) and the Glory Paladin's Peerless Athlete channel divinity (doubles once...

The 2003 Hulk film isn't part of the MCU btw.

D&D General Poll: How tough should 20th Level Fighters be? (MCU edition)

In the first movie, Odin took away all of Thor's power, not just the hammer. He was a normal dude for most of it, although with all the experience of a god so he could still fight very well. When the hammer is destroyed in the third movie, he still keeps his lightning and super strength since...

D&D General Poll: How tough should 20th Level Fighters be? (MCU edition)

I think Spider-Man is a good spot, way stronger than the normal superhumans, and can kinda fight the god tier guys, but in the end isn't quite at their level.

D&D 5E (2014) Dispelling Area Spells. How Does Targeting work?

It allows you to target a "magical effect", so I'd say any point in the range would work out. It does make stuff like Control Weather kinda lame, but it's probably better than assigning any random point to be the turn off button.

    D&D 5E (2014) Charm, the evil spells

KOTOR isn't canon anymore, but the prequels are. I do think the clones were a bad idea since they make the Republic and the Jedi look absolutely terrible, but they're pretty ingrained in the canon rn with the movies and the Clone Wars tv show.

    D&D 5E (2014) Charm, the evil spells

Well, those are the ones where we actually see the Jedi as an institution and not as just two dudes.

    D&D 5E (2014) Charm, the evil spells

They did lead an army of 10-year old slaves with mind control chips in their brains. Edit: Although, I'm not sure if everyone knew about the chips. The child slaves part stands though.

    D&D 5E (2014) Charm, the evil spells

D&D having an uncommon love potion without even a save is pretty weird, ngl. Let's hope they don't sell it to 14-year olds like in Harry Potter.

    D&D 5E (2014) Charm, the evil spells

It can be used for good and evil, like most spells, and the consequences for evil are pretty dire, like a lot of spells as well. A 9th level Mass Suggestion being used daily can control hundreds of people, but a Meteor Swarm in a packed crowd can kill thousands easily. Likewise, a Mass...

(+) Gaming in historical settings and dealing with values of the era

I'd say it depends on the specific issue and how much it affects the players. Say, if it's slavery or human sacrifice, then you could reasonably keep it as an element if none of the PCs or related NPCs are slaves/sacrifices themselves, it's just a part of the setting that they can choose to...

How Might D&D Religions Differ From Real Life Religions?

It'll just depend on the gods' personalities, if they're fine with their followers praying to others, if they need prayers to survive, if they can communicate with mortals, and if the pantheon as a whole has some agreement regarding on who can get prayers from who. You can't really compare it to...

D&D 5E (2014) Why do you use Floating ASI's (other than power gaming)? [+]

A Barbarian definitely needs all the AC they can get since their Reckless Attacks gives a huge boost for enemies to hit them, but at least they can wear armor and shields if needed. Monks really do get rekt with their d8 hit die, and reliying entirely on Unarmored Defense if they don't have...

D&D General How do you like your ASIs?

I'd ditch ASIs and make the base standard array/point buy higher. If every race can get the same +2/+1 or +1/+1/+1, then there's not much of a point of having stats tying to race. If reinforcing a theme with each race is needed, they can get some ability that fits the niche.
