Marvels Multiverse RPG: Have You GM/Played It and Your Opinions

And you're talking about a NEW game vs games that were around for a while. Marvel hasn't even been out 6 months yet!

Marvels Multiverse RPG: Have You GM/Played It and Your Opinions

Those are effects based design though as opposed to powers based design. Effects based allows for that because it is picking and choose bonuses, dice levels etc with selected modifiers to emulate the desired power. That's a benefit of effects based systems. The drawback is more complex character...

Marvels Multiverse RPG: Have You GM/Played It and Your Opinions

If you like rules light, most of the book is Marvel U characters, with simple mechanics, (yes I think it is simple, even damage) then it's a great game. It isn't balanced but neither was FASERIP Marvel or MEGS. This is beer and pretzels with a side of reese' cups. It is a throwback on the...

Valiant Adventures Superhero TTRPG Coming From Green Ronin

Marvel went in house as you said and that was their business plan to control quality. Marvel hasn't had a successful game since the original TSR game. It's also pretty simple, unlike M&M, for character creation and feels very similar to FASERIP in that sense. They wanted to catch the casual...

Valiant Adventures Superhero TTRPG Coming From Green Ronin

It's a one book game with three available at launch, the core, a GM kit and a world book. That's not any different to M&M3e where you have the Deluxe Hero's Handbook, a GM kit was released and World of Freedom, the default setting used in the core rules.

Valiant Adventures Superhero TTRPG Coming From Green Ronin

It has some rules in it from the OGL from 3PP and they have their Superlink license as well as adding to the OGC for each edition. When 3e was published... a decade ago... the OGL was the best model for their business and the standard for everyone. Nobody who used it for a game tossed it no...

WotC Updates D&D's AI Policy After YouTuber's False Accusations

I used to be patreon but when his videos went almost exclusively negative following this video I dropped it. He is extremely creative with great advice but I have yet to see a video on running a game in 9 months from his channel.

Worlds of Design: Reassessing Tolkien’s Influence

I think it depends on "when" in D&D history. Gygax's dwarves and elves had far more in common with Anderson and his approach in 3 Hearts & 3 Lions which was contemporaneous to The Hobbit and a massive influence on D&D. The werewolf approach, the troll, the paladin, alignments come from 3H&3L...

How Do You Like Your Super Hero TTRPG Games/Campaigns?

At one time I preferred Mutants & Masterminds to every other supers game but that was 1e which was a nice blend of CHampions and MSH and the mechanics were innovative. I liked that powers were a mix of Power based and Effects based and that the effects based powers could be used to create the...

RPG Crowdfunding News – Elyse's Guide to Magic, Forbidden Psalm, One HONK Before Midnight, and more

I'm a Thelemite and I am not sure if I should be offended by Abyss of Hallucinations, seems to play into all the sensationalism about Crowley tying it to Mork Borg, and none of the factual aspects of him and his work but the other hand, it looks super cool and it's for Mork Borg.
